The last time the Spider-Buggy appeared, Blog Patron Bob Greenwade suggested Spidey and Batman Join the Wacky Races. I laughed to myself because I had at that point already created this cover, and it was just waiting it's turn to be posted. Great minds think alike, Bob!
Batman and Spider-Man have a bit of history on STF: The Lost Issues...
The Spider-Buggy went up against the Bat-Bus in STF #3624...
Batman got his first look at the Spider-Buggy in STF #1628...
The Batman/Spidey movie premiered in STF #1014
Spidey and JJJ joined forces against Batman in STF #937...
They were joined by some Amazing Friends in back in October 2011...
The shared a Golden Age adventure in September 2011...
Spidey wore his black outfit for their July 2010 meeting...
And here is where they first crossed paths.
And don't forget that The Spider-Buggy has seen action with Superman, as well...
I LOVE IT!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you managed to squeeze in the Spider-Buggy, Ross. But, you did...and I thank you for it. Kudos, also, to the ingenious Mr. Greenwade for suggesting this combo, in the first place. :-D
There are just so many crazy vehicles that could join in with the Wacky Races, from Hanna-Barbera's own Phooeymobile, to Darkwing Duck's Ratcatcher, to the FAB1, to the eponymous transportation of the Spider-Man wannabe-villain Big Wheel. And why couldn't Space Cabbie join in the fray?
ReplyDeleteI'm leaving off those that would have too much overlap with vehicles already in the Races, like the Haunted Tank, the Flintstone family car, or the Munster Koach.
(You know, now that I think on it, FAB1 would be a perfect addition to the Wacky Races.)
What Cary and Bob said.
ReplyDeleteBest thing i saw all day.
ReplyDeleteThis off course begs the question. Can we get a Spider Buggy/Speed Buggy team up?

I wonder whether Penelope Pitstop and Lady Penelope are somehow related to each other? Maybe M'lady has come back in time to help her [aunt?]?
Actually, I think Lady Penelope is only there to give moral support to her chauffeur's second cousin's' widow's nephew. ;-)
ReplyDelete@Jack Acid: I can just picture Tinker, Speed Buggy's mechanic (imagine Shaggy with a Southern drawl) making the introductions.
ReplyDelete"Spidey; Speedy. Speedy? Spidey!"
@Cary: I'd expect that more likely with a meeting between Peter Parker and Roy Harper.
ReplyDeleteSimreeve and Bob Greenwade, don't forget the SPV from SPECTRUM.
ReplyDeleteThat's the nickname Speed Buggy's human crew canonically used in the dialogue of every episode, Bob.
ReplyDeleteI know that, Cary. I'm just saying.
ReplyDeleteSo was he. ;-)
ReplyDeleteSeriously, though: why has nobody suggested the Mach Five appearing in the Wacky Races?
ReplyDeleteI mean, Metamorpho got to team up with Speed Racer _twice_ during those first six times. And the second of those was over a year ago!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous: I can just hear the theme song, now.
ReplyDelete"Wacky Racer! Wacky Racer! Wacky Racer, goooooooo!"
