Dick Tracy and Bullseye

I enjoyed the Dick Tracy movie back in the day.  It's been decades since I've watched it, I wonder if it holds up.  One thing I remember that bothered me was they used so many different Tracy villains in one single film, killing most of them off - it seemed like a waste of potential there.  I still think a Dick Tracy streaming series would be a great idea, that way each villain could get an arc or at least an episode to themselves.

  1. I thought exactly the same thing! Maybe each of the Tracy villains couldn't hold a full movie, but I too felt they threw too many villains in the movie.

And my favorite line (also from memory of seeing it decades ago) was "when do we eat?"

  2. Oh, I don't know. I sure liked it when UPA did that animated Mr. Magoo/Dick Tracy crossover. Featuring Tracy's entire Rogues' Gallery as a crime syndicate...and Magoo working undercover as the hit man called Squinty Eyes!

  3. A long time ago Harvey had the license for Dick Tracy comics. At the same time they published an Archie clone called Mazie and her Boyfriends. I mention this because the wise guy character, Reggie to Mazie's Betty, was named Flat-Top. A made-to-order potential crossover, but probably too obscure.

  4. Great team-up here. Maybe this story could be called "Crime-Wave In The Flat-lands".

  5. Agreed for a Tracy streaming series! As Harry indicated, many of the villains couldn't hold an entire movie or season, but each could likely carry at least an episode. And some, like Mumbles or the Pouch, could easily work as recurring characters.

But of course to catch these two criminals will require a very level-headed approach. #BadPunNoCookie #GoAwayCary

A brilliant line here, Ross: "Give me the hat." It's simple, but in the context it says so much by implication.

@Harry: My own favorite line from the movie is something that's really stuck with me, and I've wanted to use it in some of my own works: "Wait a minute... I'm about to have... a thought. Yes, it's definitely a thought! It's coming.... It's coming........ It's gone."
