The Goon is another property that seemed ready to make the leap to animation some years back, but I haven't heard much about since. I know a short animation test was created that made the rounds and I remember it looing pretty cool. Perhaps the comic wasn't high enough profile and the project was discontinued, or perhaps the wheels of production are moving glacially slow and there's still a chance we will see it someday - I'm hoping the latter is the case.
No idea who the Goon is, but from the way he looks with "his sidekick(?)", he reminds me a whole lot of the Spirit. But no bones about it that was a fantastic shot of Sir Alex, the Swamp Thing. That cover could attract new readers.
ReplyDeleteThe Goon is a creation of Eric Powell.
Delete@Tobor: I think the Goon is supposed to be like Solomon Grundy. Only with Ben Grimm's personality.
ReplyDelete@Ross: Alec Holland has never looked more in trouble. It's like Rogue touched him with her bare hands! Perhaps under the Mandrill's influence?
ReplyDelete@Cary: Wouldn't the Goon be the reformed Bunny Foo Foo?
ReplyDeleteYou mean that over-hyped toddler who had the syndicated talk show a few years back?
ReplyDelete@Cary's Bob's referring to an old nursery rhyme about a rabbit who physically abuses field mice. Causing the Good Fairy to turn him into a goon as punishment for failing to heed three warnings to stop.
ReplyDeleteI think you're thinking of Honey Booboo (nee Alana Thompson)!
Oh, yeah. Whoever put her lack-of-reality series on the air truly deserves to be turned into a goon!
ReplyDelete@Anon@10:54: Thanks for helping clear that up.
ReplyDelete@Ross: An unrelated discussion brought the M. F. Enterprises Captain Marvel to mind, and so far he's only shown up as the leader of The Captains Marvel. Is there much chance of seeing him teamed up with the Golden Age Human Torch and/or the Silver Age Red Tornado?
There's like 3 pics total of that guy on the internet. He may show up again if I revisit Captains Marvel though
ReplyDelete@Ross: if such a sequel were published in the real world, I'd buy it in a "Split!" second.
