Machine Man and The Creeper

This is the kind of oddball pairing that really gets me interested.  They are two of my favorite C-List heroes with almost nothing in common besides their pursuit of justice.  Add in artwork by the legendary Steve Ditko to tie the whole tale together, and you have a done-in-one comic that would be tough to pass up - well, for me anyway!

  1. One can never go wrong with a Ditko mashup!!! Thank you, Ross!

  2. Too bad Creeper can't use a web-line to help him. Great cover though.

  3. Terrific cover and pairing, Ross. There is a real odd couple vibe to these two based on their original comic personalities. Of course, if Machine Man had his Nextwave personality, it would be much closer to two peas in a pod.

  4. I must--reluctantly--admit that I've never heard of Ion before. I mean, for the first couple seconds, I thought Vapor of the U-Foes had said "Hello, Dali!" to Johnny Storm's artistic antagonist Wilhelm Von Vile!*

As to the rest of your analysis, Ross? I agree, whole-heartedly.

Thanks for sharing this with us. :-)

  5. *Alias "The Painter." His only other time-at-bat, as a super-villain, was as the leader of a criminal trio that crossed paths with Spidey; the Avant Gard. Talk about two-dimensional losers!

  6. If you were make these two heroes into a regular team, they would certainly be a pair to keep an Ion. #BadPunNoCookie

  7. Only Ion (from comics) that I knew of, prior to this, was the other alias that Kyle Rayner (Green Lantern) used for a short while near the beginning of the new millennium.

  10. @Carycomic: this is Ion from her pre-Femizon-of-Superia debut in Machine Man's original series back in the Eighties.
