The Red Tornado's face has been presented many different ways over the years, from an unmoving robotic face, to robotic features that can make expressions (sometimes with a nose, sometimes without), to almost fully human looking. I prefer somewhere in the middle, like he was depicted in the Justice League Unlimited cartoon. What's your favorite look?
IMHO, Red Tornado really developed as a character after Len Wein introduced his relationships with Kathy Sutton
ReplyDeletered tornado has always been one of my favorite jla members
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I ever disliked about him was the post-Ulthoom costume. It made him look like the love-child of Jemm of Saturn and "Chronos" Clinton!
ReplyDeleteIt's a little hard to gauge, since nearly all of Reddy's appearances on this blog are with the fully-humanoid features. Still, I can see the good and bad points of all approaches, depending on the writer's approach to the character, and where he is in his character development. That fully-humanoid look seems to work best most of the time, though.
ReplyDeleteOn a lighter note, how about Tarzan and Groo meet Groot?
ReplyDeleteWith the Ape Man talking to the former while hanging upside-down from the branches of the latter.
Above Anon,
ReplyDeleteHow about a live action cover with Superman vs. the Hogwarts Express.
Given his vulnerability to magic, would Superman still be more powerful than a locomotive?
I really enjoyed Red Tornado as part of Primal Force and Young Justice. It was cool seeing a nearly broken down Reddy come back in Primal Force. He was pretty cool as the long-suffering android chaperone for the three misfits...
ReplyDelete@FTSB: good question! How abou it, Ross? Gotta good answer?
ReplyDeleteGreat team-up! I like the look he has here best. I feel like we need a sequel to this with Storm and The Top making an appearance.
ReplyDeleteOnce again anoth classic Kirby cover. Nice use of The King/George Roussos/Greg Theakson.
ReplyDeleteCareful with that hammer, Thor. Remember what you did to L.A. in #3074!
ReplyDeleteDick Dillin's version of Red Tornado of course!
ReplyDeleteAnd the Red Tornado should be able to pick up the hammer just like the Vision.
Red Tornado and Thor merged would have been great in Amalgam Comics.
Red Thornado?! Please, no! Ross forbid!!
ReplyDeleteThe only thing worse would've been amalgamating Ulthoom with Todd Arliss (one of Namor's biggest non-Atlantean enemies) as...The Sharknado Tyrant!!!
@Glenn and Cary: actually, Red Thornado vs. the Sharknado Tyrant wouldn't be a bad idea! Maybe for Issue #3,500?
ReplyDeleteGreat cover and pairing. Would be a really fun issue.
