Captain America and The Rocketeer in: "Taking Doom!"

The Rocketeer seems like a good candidate to get a Disney+ series.  The movie may not have been an initial financial success, but it gained quite a following  on home video in the years since and is very well regarded - I've always been surprised they never revisited the property in live action.  Does Disney still have the rights to the character?

Cap previously met The Rocketeer in STF #3082, and also with The Invaders in STF #2206...

Coming tomorrow: STF #3400!

  1. If Falcon can use the shield then Cap can use a flying gizmo. This looks like a natural cover. Would love to see Cap in Superman's Kandor: "Bottle Cap."

  2. To answer your question? Disney has had plans for a sequel/reboot since the announcement of same in 2016. Plus, they've been telecasting a spin-off series for Disney Channel Junior featuring Kit Secord (Bill's Millenial great-granddaughter)!

So, the Rocketeer at STF #3082 could very well be her grandfather, Bill Junior.

  5. According to the Wikipedia article, the latest on a Rocketeer sequel has a script by Azia Squire finished as of 8 Feb 2020, and J. D. Dillard set to direct, with release on Disney+. Of course, the COVID pandemic threw pretty much everything into development molasses, so it's hard to say what's going on with it now.

The plot, according to the same article, picks up six years after the original, and has Cliff missing and the mantle of the Rocketeer picked up by a black woman. I kind of have a feeling that she'll be more successful (in terms of finding social and official acceptance in the role) in the movie than she would in real-world 1944.

And I second Tobor's "Bottle Cap" suggestion.

@Cary: Bill? You mean Cliff, don't you?

  6. Bob, I’ve heard of people dropping off a cliff (Lois Lane did it lots of times), but this is ridiculous.

  7. Nope! You must be thinking of Cliff Hanger.

  8. The Rocketeer is Cliff Secord, played by Billy Campbell

  9. I thought he was the one who went after Deadites.

  10. Naw! That's BRUCE Campbell. And Big Mike is right. The Rocketeer's first name, in-story, really _is_ Clifford!

No wonder he always carries a broom-handle Mauser.

  11. PS: Since Tobor mentioned Falcon, I think it'd be great to see him teamed with the Rocketeer.
