I'm very to eager to see Michael Keaton return as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the currently filming Flash movie. He apparently will have a sizeable role (Ben Affleck will be there too in a smaller appearance). One thing that puzzles me is the shots of the Batmobile we have seen in promotional images. I'm kind of torn on it - while it's cool to have the 1989 Batmobile back, it doesn't make sense to me that Batman would not have upgraded his ride in 33 years. Hopefully it can turn corners a little better now!
Batman and Iron Man last met battling The Mad Hatter in STF #3049... they first met back in my B&B: The Lost Issues days, first on a Bronze Age cover, and then on a Golden Age cover.... Plus, Batman also met Iron Man 2020...
Simply stunned, Ross. This is way, way beyond (Batman Beyond?) cool!
ReplyDelete...And I've only just taken in the pun title! What are you on today?
ReplyDeleteI hope down the line we might see a 'Batman is Iron Man' cover with the roles reversed and Bruce taking on the mantle of Iron Man, likely to track down and find Tony without raising suspicion.
ReplyDeleteThis, again, is one of your best. It's incredible that you found images -- from four different artists, apparently -- that fit together so perfectly, and put them together in a way that made them look like they were drawn that way from the start.
ReplyDeleteIf this story is treated as prequel to (or flashback from) #386, then we have a development in the story between Tony and Jaime, which in the STFU could reflect the MCU's Stark/Parker relationship. The story continues in #2461, Jaime finds out in this issue (bookending the story seen here) about what was revealed to us in #2255... and, next time out, Tony and Jaime head out to deal with a Reach-infected Mandarin! (And just in time for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings!
And that, would be a good plot for an actual five-part miniseries if Marvel and DC ever wanted to do those again.
I see a wealth of possibilities: "In brightest day, in Starkest night........"
ReplyDeleteAwesome!!!!! :-D
ReplyDeleteSimply and totally awesome. The meshed artwork, I mean. Emsley Wyatt is right about all the story ideas that just this image, alone, mentally conjures up.* It makes me wonder, for instance, if WayneTech (see B&B:TLI #216) was taken back from Stark Enterprises as a result of Tony's alcoholism.
Or was Tony mind-controlled into a drinking binge? Perhaps by the Puppet Master working for a new Ra's Al Ghul? Namely...Bruce Wayne!
*Emsley? You're a genius.

ReplyDelete"@my namesake: Down the line, I'm hoping for the Powerpuff Girls' arch-enemy will take on the Kid From Outer Space. If only so Ross could entitle it...
"MOJO JOJO VS. DODO!" "

Which of them hires Lobo?
@Simreeve: Neither, as that would be a no-no! ;-D
ReplyDeleteYou guys sound like you're trying to rewrite the rap section of "Sax A-Go-Go" by Candy Dulfer. Just don't forget to include Mogo.
ReplyDelete@Cary: My favorite bit from the classic "What If...?" Vol. 1 Issue 34 was the page that pondered, "What if Tony Stark had an eating problem instead of a drinking problem?" ("I can quit any time I want! Waiter, one cow, please. Medium rare." Even that doesn't hold a candle to the panel with Tony trying to fit into his armor using a crowbar -- a scene I'd love to see Ross utilize here somehow.)
@Bob: of course not! The last thing I want to do is risk being bench-pressed by an irate Bat-Ape.
ReplyDelete@Carycomic: uhhhhhhhhhhhhm! No. Wrong Mogo.
ReplyDeleteWonder if Tony could project Bruce's 3-D image around himself? This would be in Stark contrast to using Wayne's disguise table.
ReplyDeleteWell, then about a relative of Jabba the Hutt who likes to buy two of everything: Bogo?
ReplyDeleteP.S.@Horsefeathers--I remember Tim and Dick having a discussion on that very topic when they incorporated some holographic technology into their utility belts.
ReplyDeleteTIM: "Does this mean we can finally get rid of that trunk full of wigs and false moustaches?"
DICK: "Blasphemy, Mr. Drake! Blasphemy."
Flawless cover Ross.
ReplyDeleteChef's Kiss!
Tony trims his face hairs? Call the press. Next you can have the Thing playing Batman.
ReplyDeleteHorsefeathers: Now you have me wondering if there are any images of Iron Man removing his helmet, so that Ross can replace Tony's face with, say, Ambush Bug or Bugs Bunny.
ReplyDeleteWhich, in turn, has me wanting to see Kermit the Frog get a GL ring!
"It ain't easy being Green Lantern.
