With so many DC properties that have made the leap to animation, I wonder why Captain Carrot and his Amazing Zoo Crew has missed out on the fun. The Funny Animal/Superhero hybrid comic from the 80's seemed tailor made for a cartoon show, but that's something that never has come to pass. They didn't even get a guest shot on Batman: The Brave and the Bold - I though for sure that they would show up there.
Bugs met the entire Zoo Crew in STF #1331...
This could be the greatest multi-crossover ever - Access (from DC VS Marvel) going up against every superhero character to have ever had a crossover with DC or Marvel. You could even call it 'Access Denied!'
ReplyDeleteI would absolutely adore it if DC would do a 'Cartoon Crisis' crossover... Captain Carrot and His Zoo Crew, the Looney Tunes, Hanna-Barbera toons, even Cartoon Network
ReplyDeleteI remember when Beast Boy crossed over in the CC book and always thought that the Teen Titans cartoon would have been a good opportunity to bring the Zoo Crew to animation.
As for Brave and the Bold, that's another missed chance. They had Prez Rickard show up for crying out loud :D
Maybe someone is holding his nephew Clyde* hostage in exchange for the carrots. Activate William Self-mode:
ReplyDelete"But, who could that be? Elmer Fudd? Yosemite Sam? Or is it someone totally unexpected? Someone who might otherwise become a cannibalistic member of the undead? Could tomorrow possibly see an episode entitled...RISE OF THE MARVEL ZOMBUNNY!"
*As in, "Bunny And...?"
Now that you mention it, Ross (and Mike), that is an oddly missed opportunity, and DC is generally good about seizing any opportunity to have a little fun. Guest appearances on Teen Titans or Batman: The Brave and the Bold would've been a great way to test the waters to see how well the Zoo Crew would be received by animation audiences. Now their only outlet would be HBO Max, which may not be the best outlet for them.
ReplyDelete@Anon: I think you're definitely on to something with the title, but I'd try something else for the presentation. Maybe he's trying to Amalgamate two characters whose abilities allow them to somehow resist his tampering, like Grogu ("Baby Yoda") and Foghorn Leghorn's nemesis Egghead Jr.
PS @Ross: Now that I think of it Grogu and Egghead Jr. would be a formidable pair without Access.
ReplyDeleteWho"a Eghead Sr.?
DeletePS #2: I just came across a trailer for an upcoming show on Netflix, Shadow and Bone, which looks interesting enough that I probably will take a look at the first episode if nothing else (it drops on 23 April). It has nothing to do with the characters of Bone or The Shadow, of course, but those two might make an interesting pairing.
ReplyDelete@Bob Greenwade - Access would be trying to prevent them from doing any more crossovers, as their previous ones have, as Access would say on the cover, ‘upset the balance’ of the DC and Marvel universes.
ReplyDeleteBTW, when will a Captain Carrot/Kamandi crossover appear?
ReplyDeleteDid Bugs swipe some of CC's cosmic carrots? Bugs is still wanted for cutting off Florida from the rest of the U.S. years ago.
ReplyDelete@Anon@12:04: Ask DC. They own both characters.
ReplyDeleteThey just need that mean little kid from "Easter Yeggs." "I wanna Easter egg! I wanna Easter egg! I wanna Easter egg!"
ReplyDelete@Anonymous 1225: Not to mention, using the Florida Keys to steal the locks of the Panama Canal.
ReplyDelete;-D
They appeared on Robot Chicken.

@Anon@12:25: I thought that was Jeb Bush. #YesIAmANaughtyBoy
ReplyDeleteNext time, Bizarro meets Big Chungus
ReplyDeleteI'd prefer it if Bizarro met Big Moose. It might prove an irresistible challenge, to Ross, to depict an intellectually stimulating conversation between those two!
ReplyDeleteThis is a job for a REAL Superman!

@Anonymous453: Vincent Price (alias Frederick Lorne).
ReplyDeleteNext: Captain Carrot meets Stupor-Duck!
ReplyDeleteHey hey hey! With the trunks gone New age Soups looks alot like Stupor Duck.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a robot, just the Ghost in the machine.
I thought we were all just spirits in a material world.
