Paul Chadwick's Concrete is one of those comics that is great to loan out to readers who aren't into traditional superhero fare. The stories are thought provoking, the characters are very well defined and the artwork is absolutely gorgeous. I was lucky enough to pick up a sketch by Paul Chadwick several years back:
Mr. Chadwick seems to have been (at least partially) inspired by Iron Man's prototype armor. The one he eventually had to gold-plate so as not to scare little kids!
ReplyDeleteJust compare Concrete's general outline with STF #3266, if you don't believe me.
ReplyDeleteI'd still love to see a team up with Concrete and Clayface.

I'm beginning to see the dim outlines of a team - Concrete, Iron Man, Plastic Man...the Materials Men (unless you've already done it)
ReplyDelete@Davejonz: not according to his table of contents under "T-for The," he hasn't.
ReplyDelete@Davejonz: Not a bad idea! One could throw in Rope Man of the Mighty Heroes, and Fluid Man of the Impossibles. And maybe Platinum of the Metal Men, just for some female representation.
ReplyDeleteor from the Doom Patrol, When the Concrete hits the Road!
ReplyDelete@Horsefeathers: as in, Danny The Street?
ReplyDeleteDanny the Street would be fun to see on this blog, though I'm a little short on good ideas for whom to team with them -- the best I can come up with is Mars Attacks! or maybe The Tick.
ReplyDelete@Bob: How about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? That way, we could see if Ross would be able to resist using the title...
ReplyDelete"Street Pizza!"
@Anon: Danny and the Turtles would be a decent combo. Danny might even offer to grow a pizza parlor in exchange for the guys' help.
