It seems like Zoe Kravitz will be sporting a costume like the one above when she appears as Catwoman in Matt Reeve's upcoming Batman movie, from what I have been able to discern from set reports. I think that she will look great in the role, and I really hope that she and Robert Pattinson have great on-screen chemistry. A mutual attraction between Selina Kyle and Batman/Bruce Wayne that the audience buys into is a key element, and can provide a through line for a trilogy if done well.
Strange stirrings in the utility belt, INDEED!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the chemistry between Michael Keaton and Michelle Pfeiffer. Especially when they [SPOILER ALERT] discovered each other's identities...
I don't believe there has been chemistry quite like that since Mr. West and Ms. Newmar.
Holy One Sided contest! Victor reacting as he does, doesn't realize this moment has been planned for. Before he can react, Doom sees Catwoman rescued by Zatanna and realizes his favorite McGuffin is now gone.
ReplyDeleteI sure hope all nine of her life insurance polices are paid up.
ReplyDeleteFor me,nNo portrayal of Batman is quite complete without all of his Big Five: Joker, Riddler, Penguin, Two-Face, and Catwoman. The classic TV series had to do without Two-Face, because that character wasn't being used at the time (for which reason I give them a pass on that); the Dark Knight trilogy only had Joker and Two-Face; and even Gotham missed Harvey's transformation. That I can think of, only the 90s Burton/Schumacher anthology and the animated series has had all five. It does look, though, as if this trilogy may have all five, with Two-Face coming in the second film and Joker most likely in the third.
ReplyDelete@AirDave: I thought Mazouz and Bicondova worked pretty darn well together in that regard.
@Cary: Ha! Good one!
Off-Topic: I took the plunge and signed up with Hulu, and have been catching up Marvel's Runaways, having just finished Season 2 last night. It's a pretty good show, despite a slow beginning (and showing no disceernable connections to any other Marvel production up to this point, though I know that Cloak and Dagger swing by in Season 3).
ReplyDeleteWatching it has kind of made me wonder whether the team, or individual members, could show up here. Molly Hayes Hernandez with the second Wildcat? Karolina Dean with Halo? Nico Minoru with Zatanna? Or, the whole team could step up when one of Batman's crime-boss foes, such as Roman Falcone, tries to move in on the Los Angeles turf.
At the least, I think Old Lace could turn The Jurassic Four into the Jurassic Five.
Another intriguing pairing, and a great piece of action too. I'm already fumbling in my pocket for change as I stand next to the newsstand. How is Selina going to get out of this?
ReplyDeleteA follow up? Maybe throw Black Cat into the mix, along with a DC villain? Darkseid?
Have you ever had Doc Doom meet Darth Vader? Maybe at a helmet-swapping party?
Another feline notion...have you ever used Archie comics character, the Jaguar? (I remember you did the Fly once). As a kid I thought he had a really stylish costume...
@Bob, re Two-Face: Even though they never made a mention of it, on Batwoman the facial scars of Mouse underwent subtle changes over the season and for the last couple of episodes they were nearly identical to Two-Face's, and they use some camera angles: good side profile, bad side profile, full straight on without shadows to play it up.
ReplyDeleteBob - Never saw the show or read the comics, so I know next to nothing about Te Runaways.
ReplyDelete@Jay: I did notice that, at least with the makeup, though of course that's more of an Easter egg than an actual appearance. Kate will have her own roster of foes, just as in the comics.
ReplyDelete@Ross: I can't speak to the comic either way, but if you can get Hulu, the show's worth a watch.
@Davejonz: including HARVEY's Black Cat (from its pre-Casper days)?
ReplyDelete@Ross: consider yourself lucky. The few issues I read of THE RUNAWAYS made it seem like a plagiaristic hybrid of Doom Patrol and Teen Titans (Silver Age versions).
ReplyDelete@Anon. Just looked up Harvey Black Cat. It's a near thing but I'm not quite old enough to remember her. (I was thinking of Spidey's sparring partner.) Still she looks great. Throw her into the mix by all means.
ReplyDeleten the past 3 days, we've had heroes facing villains ...
ReplyDelete#2958 Superman vs. Juggernaut,
#2959 Ghost Rider vs. Skeletor,
#2960 Catwoman vs. Doctor Doom
... Maybe we will be lucky to see Hulk vs. Doomsday. This would be a very worthy confrontation too.
Wow! Those are big numbers, just over a month to number 3000. Can't wait!

ReplyDeleteI'm Flying. Look at me, I'm flying.
ReplyDeleteFrom the musical "PETER PANIC" by Jonathan Crane.
ReplyDeleteAh,but we just uncovered that Victor had a step brother: Boris Gloom! That's why he's always been the life of every party. " Doom & Gloom" Can't have a party without them.
ReplyDeleteTo be a new comic title soon.
Doom is just angry because she made him waste all that perfectly good Kirby Krackle.
