I am trying to not spoil things for myself or get my hopes up too much - but I caught a glimpse of some blurred out images from the upcoming Avengers: Endgame, and they seemed to show what could be Iron Man sporting his classic look gold and yellow armor that he wore throughout the 70's and 80's. Again, they were blurry so it may just be wishful thinking on my part, but if true it is something that I have been waiting for since Robert Downey Jr. first took on the role.
These two heroes first met back in STF #2152...
The Kree are gun-running to Intergang?! Oooh! The Weaponeers of Qward are not going to like that.
ReplyDelete@cary: I thought it was pronounced "Weaponers?"
ReplyDeleteP.S. (@ Ross): has it the been red-and-silver armor in all the previous Marvel movies? Or are you referring to that big-nosed suit of armor Tony wore during the Swordsman-and-Mantis tenure of the Avengers comics?
ReplyDeleteHave you considered "Mister Terrific" and "Mister Fantastic"? I've even got a title: "Pride goeth before a fall".
ReplyDeleteEmsley, they met Mr. Incredible on an earlier STF cover...
ReplyDeleteAnon - I/m talking about the armor he wore for decades before changing it - red/gold with widow's peak helmet and hip disks.
You are correct, Anonymous, it is DEFINITELY the "Weaponers of Qward".
ReplyDeleteI've seen reports of at least concept art that suggests that RDJ will be sporting the classic armor look.
ReplyDeleteRe: The Three Misters: I've been hoping that they'd reunite one day. Then again, I've also been hoping to see Iron Beetle again (teaming up with Matt Murdock in his Green Lantern colors), but so far to no avail.
There's also been some blurred images of Jackman as Wolverine. That one, for me, suggested some kind of viewing portal (what's left of the MCEU Avengers looking for inter-dimensional help?), so an old-school Iron Man from another Earth, along with whatever fan-boy service they want to slip in, is certainty a possibility. And some of the helpers could get stranded in the MCEU (ala the Exiles) which lets their actors take over from Downey and company, even if there isn't a full-on Fox/Marvel Universe merge.
ReplyDeleteWhen Jack Kirby introduced Intergang in the pages of Jimmy Olsen, they were getting their equipment (and their orders) from Apokolips. The Kree Empire seems like a step down.
ReplyDeleteSince Mr Terrific is invisible to technology, Iron Man can't even see him when he's wearing his helmet.
ReplyDelete@Bob Buethe: Unless, of course, Ronan the Accuser was in cahoots with Darkseid after overthrowing the Supreme Intelligence.
ReplyDeleteP.S.---how about Batman meets Moonlight Mask and Golden Bat (two of postwar Japan's earliest anime series)?
ReplyDelete@Anonymous - Make it the Japanese version of Bats and you got a deal!
ReplyDeleteThe one that took on Yama-sama (Lord Death Man) in that Batmite-hosted episode of TB&TB?
ReplyDelete@Cary and Isaac: sounds about right.
ReplyDeleteI'm Still waiting for the Demon in the Bottle Movie, the very reason I was excited for RDJ to portray Tony Stark to begin with.
