Captain America and Buck Rogers

Here's another potential family relation that I am surprised had not occurred to me before.  I think it might be interesting to explore - having such a swashbuckling uncle could be one place that Steve Rogers developed his heroic attitude.  Plus, they clearly share the same love for red buccaneer boots!

  1. My one slight problem: You say "Uncle Buck" and *this* pops into my small mind...

  2. Haha, Why do you think I included it?

  3. Looks like Buck has the H Dial embedded in his costume. It would make such an interesting story.

  4. Nice one!
I remember reading a Marvel story (a 'What If?', set after WW2, I'm fairly sure...) in which Bucky commented that if Steve had adopted him then he would be 'Buck Rogers'...

  5. So....Buck Rogers and Duck Dodgers anyone?

  6. They also share a family love of suspended animation.

  7. Brilliant! And so much better than that Ginger and Roy team-up.

  8. Now I want to see Chris Evans wearing the red buccaneer boots.

I also want to see what happens when Steve takes Diana to 2419.

    And I second PromoRob's idea.

And I'm feeling eager to see another Danvers Twins story.

  9. Funny, I was in a IRL conversation after AoU where someone complained the MCU Steve Rogers sounds like Fred Rogers.

  10. Gotta love it when someone explains the joke to the guy who wrote it.

I'd like to see a Buck Rogers/Flash Gordon team up.

Or expand it even more... Buck, Flash, Jim Kirk, Starbuck, Spaceman Spiff... you get the idea.

  11. A team-up like this would definitely be an automatic purchase for me. If only to see the romantic square that would ensue. Picture it! Wilma Deering developing an attraction to the good captain; and, no doubt, at the instigation of Princess Ardala (who wants Uncle Buck for herself).

  12. Now I'm ready for Steve to go back into the Wild West to meet Roy Rogers!

And has Steve ever solved a mystery with his nephew Shaggy Rogers from Scooby Doo?

  13. I support the Steve & Norville "Shaggy" Rogers idea. If there's a way to throw in Roy and Fred, then Buck can be there too for a Rogers Family Reunion.

  14. I'm in favor of just the Steve and Shaggy team-up. But, with a special guest-appearance by Mr. Justice of the Mighty Crusaders. And I'll tell you why. His mortal self was a Scottish prince killed by the treasonous...Rogers Clan!

  15. BEE-DEE Bee-DEE What's up Buck? Steve,Fred, Ginger, Roy, & Norville Rogers together again for the first time

  16. i love the idea of all the Rogers clan joining together on a cover...
Mr. Fred, Ginger, Roy, Buck, Norville "Shaggy" and Captain Steve and when they all gather together they can call themselves "The Jolly Rogers"....

  17. ...and from the out of left field department, since "Glass" is making good money at the movies how about a follow-up to you early Batman and Unbreakable cover from back in you Brave and the Bold days of your blog???
    thanks, Ross...

  18. Now, all of a sudden, I'm imagining a music video of "The Rogers Family" with the above-named members (Steve, Buck, Shaggy, Roy, Ginger, and Fred), done in the style of the opening credits of the original The Addams Family.

  19. or perhaps in the style of the Brady bunch opening theme song...
"that's the way they all became the Jolly Rogers..."

  20. @Jackel: you forgot Little Boy Blue of the Blue Boys. He was a Rogers, too.
