Doctor Strange Vs. Mr. Mxyzptlk

Rumors are beginning to swirl about Marvel's Stage 4 cinematic plans, and Director Scott Derrickson has been hinting that a new Doctor Strange movie will be among them.  Since Marvel sequels have been used to introduce new characters, I am hoping we see Clea and maybe even Brother Voodoo included in the mix. Baron Mordo has already been set up as the antagonist, but I wouldn't mind seeing Nightmare in there as well.

A big thank you goes out to Bob Greenwade, longtime commenter and Patron of the Blog, for suggesting this epic match-up!

  1. I really was hoping with Cleo in first movie but since they made the ancient one a female I was worried Dr. Strange's ex Cleo would be a guy.

  2. Cover idea: Nightmare vs Dream (Gaiman's Morpheus), and it turns out that Nightmare is the renegade son of Dream.

  3. I'd say that Dr. Strange has his work cut out for him!

  4. That is likely either the Golden Age 5th-Dimension imp or the version voiced by Gilbert Gottfried.

  5. Oh, it's the Golden Age version.

  6. Not to quibble, but the Golden Age (Earth-Two) Mxyzptlk was called Mxyztplk.

  7. You're all wrong - it's the Mr. Mxyzptlk from Dimension STF.

  8. I like it.

Next up: Doctor Who & Star Trek: Voyager, so the Doctor can meet the Doctor (and vice versa).

  10. It stands to reason Eternity would need the cosmic equivalent of a PR man. I mean, after the way Dormammu mind-controlled Johnny Thunder's Bahdnisian Thunderbolt (in STF #855); and then used him to frame Eternity for the theft of Oa (in STF #1954)? *

*Btw; if memory serves, T-bolt and Mxyzptlk were ultimately revealed to be fellow 5th Dimensionals! But, of course, that got temporarily erased from all 3-d minds in the post-Flashpoint DCU. Still, if the JSA really is coming back...

  11. @Cary: I would't put it past that derby-wearing dickens to have masterminded that not-so-little heist just to get just this result!

  12. This cover would have been great IF it had had the silver age Mxyzptlk. How come you used the silver age Dr. Strange but not the silver age Mr. Mxyzptlik?

  13. @The Silver Fox: You are right!

  14. I like the golden age Mxy's look better, simple as that.
