The Tick and The Creeper

There aren't a lot of heroes from Marvel or DC that could keep up with the enthusiasm and antics of The Tick, but I bet that The Creeper is one of them.  Each of them can tend to exasperate their teammates, so it would be interesting to see who cracks first.  Or maybe they would wind up being fast friends. Either way, it would be fun to read about!

  2. Cool match up that i would pay to read.
I always liked the original take on Creeper best, that of a scary, inhuman creature (or at least Jack Ryder pretending to be). But, I have to admit I would have loved to have seen his insane/comical version team up with Perez's New Teen Titans' Changling.

PS. What about an all Logan team-up? Wolverine, Changling (Gar Logan) and Logan-5 ofLogan's Run?

  3. Very nicely done! And I've always been a Creeper fan. Oooh, how about a League of Lunacy, with the following: The creeper, The Tick, The Badger, Moon-Knight.

  4. I'm with Reg on that one. Make it official Ross, give us that Loon Squad, ha ha.
Personally, while admitting to be biased as hell in favor of the Creeper, I think I see him doing well with the Tick. Plastic Man too. Hell make it a trio and team them all up to see who cracks first.

  5. DeepSeaDawson - There's a cover with Wolverine and Changeling woth the title, "Logans... Run!" so that's close at least.

  6. A league of loons does have possibility.

  7. I'd like to see a match-up with the Creeper and Captain America. Not a natural pairing, for sure, but when you consider how similar their origins are. Or perhaps Creeper and Spidey battling Chameleon and Proteus (who are basically the same guy).

  8. Love the Creeper! And I agree with DeepSeaDawson that the original version was best.

Also, it seems to me that Ambush Bug and Slapstick would make fine additions to Reg Aubry's proposed League of Lunacy (although I would suggest The Lunacy League as a name for the group).

    Great cover, Ross.

  9. I don't think even Steve Ditko, himself, would dislike this team-up being published, for real. Great concept, Ross! :-)

  10. The League of Loons should also include the Daffy Duck Green Lantern (or Batman or Stupor Duck or ...)

  11. I do miss the "HA HA HA HA HA HA"s that were part of the original art on the Creeper portion of this cover.

  12. Great cover! I've always thought of the CREEPER as "good guy" version of the JOKER. How about a CREEPER/PROWLER team-up?

  13. well, Ross, if you are going to do the suggested League of Lunacy you would also need to include Astro City's Jack-in-the-Box who looks alot like the Creeper anyway, perhaps by way of the Joker....

  14. Does anyone recall The Roach from Cerebus the Aardvark? I'm still surprised that Dave Sim hasn't sued Been Edlund.

    1. Also, fantastic cover here. Great use of the perspectives of both of the original pieces.

  15. I think that everything you said about the Creeper would apply even more to Ambush Bug (who teamed up with the Tick way back in STF #480).

I also think that Buggy would be a better choice than Creeper for the League of Loons -- nothing against Jack, but Irwin is just a good deal further over-the-top. And I think that Freakazoid would also be a fun addition.

  17. Would love to see a team up involving the *other* Dynamic Duo of Golden Age Gotham City, Mister Scarlet and Pinky. Or another involving the Flying Detective... Bulletman... like the one you had back in 2017 with Cannonball.

  18. I like these suggestions! Apparently, we've all got a soft spot for the mad ones!

  19. You should have Kool-aid Man vs The Spot from Spider-Man with the caption "Kool-aid Hits The Spot".

  20. Call them "Group Therapy", and include Crazy Jane.

  21. Or, failing that, a three-for-all between Crazy Jane, Painkiller Jane, and Evil Ernie!

  22. @Bob and Anonymous: you forgot Steve Ditko's Killjoy.
