The teaser for The Incredibles 2 has been released, and I am very happy that this movie is finally being made. I figured that the setting would jump ahead a few years in time, but it looks like things will take off shortly after the end of the last film, with the family just realizing that baby Jack Jack has powers of his own. I don't mind if that is the case because there is plenty of material to be mined there. It will also be interesting to see what spin the film takes on superheroes this time around, considering they have become the dominant cinematic genre in the years since the first Incredibles was released.
I wonder whether the Incredibles' costumes sharing basically the same colours as Plastic Man's is, in STF continuity, just a coincidence...

First off, re: today's cover? OUTSTANDING! I literally (with all my other left-field suggestions, here) would not have thought of this combo.
ReplyDeleteSecondly: I'm going to be among the first in line to see "Incredibles 2." I enjoyed the original movie when it first came out. Not only because it's one of the few non-musicals Disney/Pixar has done, outside the "Toy Story" franchise. But, also, because it dealt with a fascinating issue; what would superheroes do if forced to live like so-called "normal" people? *

*Yes, "Watchmen" sort of tackled the same issue. But, definitely NOT in a PG-rated fashion!

ReplyDeleteIf anything, their costumes are closer to Freakazoid's, who also exists in STF continuity.
I wish they would have done a time travel episode visiting all of the heroes shown on supplemental disk and allowing them to change fate of Buddy and all the heroes who died.

ReplyDeleteWhoa! Don't mention the word "genre" when Brad Bird is around. He's got a mega-punch all his own! I don't know how long Batman would put up with the Incredibles, but I could see Bruce Wayne giving Bob Paar a job. Maybe.
ReplyDelete@Simreeve: I'd say the red-and-black color scheme is more reminiscent of Ralph Dibney's second costume. The one he became more famous for wearing during the 1970's!
