I have to laugh when I look at this team up because the Jason Mamoa Aquaman from Justice League looks like it will be an amalgam between Aquaman and Hercules. He's got Aquaman's abilities and trident, with Hercules' personality and appearance, and a costume that combines the two. Hopefully when I see the movie, the Orin/Arthur Curry side of Aquman will become more evident.
Love the title true old school. Hercules appears a little blurred however and I am assuming that is too hide him from Olympus or maybe Poseidon/Neptune/who may be punishing Aquaaman and lad.
ReplyDeleteThere are quit a number of Greek/Roman characters in comics (although DC seems to eliminating some in current story line). Maybe Hercules needs to organize a modern version of Jason and the Argonauts with him replacing Jason.
From the trailers I've seen, Jason Mamoa's Aquaman will be talking more like a surfer dude from the Eighties. Making more of a hybrid between Silver Age Aquaman, Marvel's Hercules, and Prez!
ReplyDeleteOutrageous!
ReplyDeleteI always thought that the way they did Aquaman in the Batman: The Brave and the Bold cartoon was a perfect fit for a screen version of Hercules. A little bit stupid, but a great big heart of gold.
ReplyDeleteoutrageous hopefully concider doing welcome back kotter and harry potter for welcome back potter or harry potter vs books of magic tim
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Momoa will say "Outrageous!"
ReplyDeleteI think their inspiration for Aquaman came from the bearded phase he went thru; he even carried a trident when he did not have a hook for a hand. He also carried a trident in Flashpoint. I am wondering if he will use phrases like "Great Neptune" or "Great Poseidon" which I always thought odd since Atlantis was supposed to have sunk thousands of years before Greco-Roman era.
ReplyDelete@ GH: Neptune/Poseidon probably took over from Oceanus after the Titans were overthrown by Zeus and the other Olympians.
ReplyDeleteI only just now noticed that, with this installment, your issue number has caught up with that of the year. Congratulations on this quite obscure (and, I'd bet, unique) milestone! :)

I think that '2000AD' might have reached that point, too...
@Simreeve: I just hope Conan O'Brian isn't still doing that increasingly out-dated "In The Year 2000" skit.
