I like the possibilities that this match up presents. I can see galactus still bein a force to be reckoned with in the Legionnaire's time period. I'm sure that Colossal Boy would want first crack at him, but it would take the combined might of the team backed up by Brainiac 5's smarts to bring him down. As for who the big G might choose as a new herald from the group, that's easy. Dawnstar's tracking abilities would make her a perfect candidate.
Galactus first faced the LSH in STF #1487...
Might it be the time to form the 'Fatal Five' -- or a newer counterpart to that team -- to help the heroes battle this foe?
ReplyDelete(Mano once disintegrated an entire planet -- his homeworld -- just by touching it: What happens if he touches Galactus?)
Probably much better than Galactus vs. Godzilla.
ReplyDeleteIf Titano the giant ape that vexed Superman didn't have kryptonite vision, he wouldn't be a match(for Superman) either.
ReplyDeleteOkay, that was the Pre-Crisis version.
ReplyDeleteI could just imagine the word balloons on this cover during Julie Schwartz's heyday.
ReplyDelete"You destroyed my pet Sun-eater. Now, I destroy your world."
Another day, another helping of AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteI liked the previous cover more - it was more (excuse the pun) more Galactic in scope.
ReplyDeleteDawnstar already has many of the powers associated with heralds - ability to fly in space without use of space ship at multi-light speeds. Now Matter Eater lad, a character able to eat the Miracle Machine, is one if augmented by Galactus's cosmic power becomes Galactic Eater Lad!
I wonder if Galactus would be willing to consume a sun eater instead of the Earth? Also I think Persuader of the Fatal Five would make a new good servant for Galactus. I do like Glenn Host's Galactic Eater Lad idea though.

Heck! If all else fails, Galactus could consume the combined energies of Mano, The Persuader's "atomic" axe, and Emerald Empress' Eye of Ekron!*
ReplyDelete*In light of the current Batman story arc, I have to wonder if its ability to cut through the laws of physics--as well as most forms of solid matter--might mean the axe is made of Nth metal.
I can see the Legion having to crack Mordru out of his latest burial to fight Galactus.
ReplyDeleteOf course, the Legion would then need to convince Mordru that if he destroyed or ditched the Legion, Galactus would eventually find the Sorcerer's World, or wherever else Mordru went.
Oh, and yes, Dawnstar would be Galactus's obvious choice as a herald.
ReplyDeleteWould Wildfire offer himself to save Dawnstar from servitude?
ReplyDeleteI think Matter-Eater Lad would be far better as Galactus' new herald. I can see it, now. Tenzil Kem growing to ten times the size of Colossal Boy in order to devour whole planet. And, then regurgitating them into Galactus!*
ReplyDelete*Perhaps with the aid of some Cosmo-Bismol. ;-D
@Carycomic: insert face-palm icon, here.
ReplyDeleteFound the original cover from this one. You shrunk and repositioned Mon-El and ditched Bouncing Boy.
ReplyDeleteYup, sometimes I have to tweak the images to get them to go together better.
