It's going to be a good year for Black Lightning. Not only is he getting his own self-titled TV show on The CW, he's coming back to comics as well. A new series is in the works written by none other than his creator (and Patron of this blog, to boot) Tony Isabella. Artist Clayton Henry will be joining Isabella for Black Lightning: Cold Dead Hands, a 6-issue mini series. it's been a decades-long wait for Jefferson Pierce to finally get his proper exposure and I hope that the show and series only lead to bigger things.
I remember this issue! It's when everybody's least-favorite Quistian split himself in two--or, rather, implanted his psionic essence in two separate Earth-bodies (one of them, Aries of Zodiac)--to try and get the better of Cap and Falcon.

ReplyDeleteDoes anybody else here remember a 'Lucifer' from DC, a human villain, who appeared in one of the later issues of Blue Devil's series? He could probably have been beaten by Little Boy Blue & the Blue Boys...

ReplyDeleteBlack Lightning getting his own show on The CW? That'll be extremely cool! (This is the first I've heard the news.) Will he be in the Arrowverse's Earth-1, or the Earth-38 of Supergirl (which I mistakenly called Earth-34 last week)? Most likely the former, which means he can have crossover interactions with that world's other African-American heroes (Flash II, Mister Terrific, Firestorm 1.5, Hawkgirl, either or both of the Vixens, etc.).
ReplyDeleteHe will be on his own Earth. I'm sure the Arrowverse will have a Crisis down the line where all the CW shows are merged into one Earth though.
ReplyDeleteOh, no doubt there'll be a Crisis. That's been pretty explicitly foreshadowed since the first episode of The Flash.
ReplyDeleteBL on his own Earth will still be good; with the way that the producers like to do crossovers, you can bet that he'll get involved with the others at least once or twice a year.
