I understand that Matt Reeves has decided to not use the Ben Affleck/Geoff Johns script for his upcoming batman movie, and go in a new direction. This film has had so many starts and stops, I hope all goes well once it finally gets rolling. I do like that he says that he intends to focus on the detective aspects of the character, something that I feel has been underused in Batman's cinematic outings thus far. Reeves is getting strong reviews for
War for the Planet of the Apes, so that's a good sign as well.
What I would like to see is a live action Batman: The Animated Series episode. That's one of the elements that I liked about the Keaton films. A) Something happens. Bruce becomes aware of it and investigates. B) At some point he suits up and then solves things. He seemed more like AzBats in Dawn of Justice. Yeah, I get it, Batman kicks butt. Knew that for a long time now. Can we see some detective skills and escape artistry?
ReplyDeleteThis is one of your most outstanding covers, Ross -- one that has me wondering, "How did he DO that???"
ReplyDeleteI would hope that the story inside would include at least a couple of pages of Iron Beetle dropping by. ;)
In other news, I had two inspirations this morning, both of which I think would make fun covers (though I accept that they probably won't happen).
1. I've finally begun catching up with The Librarians on DVD, and every time (so far) that Flynn Carson (the senior Librarian, played by Noah Wylie) shows up he gives off this sort of "Doctor Who" vibe. Teaming him up with the 10th or 11th Doctor to go after some artifact (say, the Hand of Rassilon) would be fun.
2. I'm still eager for a re-teaming of Deadpool and Ambush Bug, and I finally figured out the villain for them: Foxbat (from the Champions RPG). The Fourth Wall will never be the same....
Wow...awesome cover!!
ReplyDeleteAmbush Bug and Deadpool vs. Foxbat??!!! That is too good for just a cover here!! I want the whole story!!
ReplyDeleteI saw WFTPOTA this past Friday night. Great flick! Steve Zahn and Amiah MIller almost steal the show from Andy Cirkis.
ReplyDeleteSpielberg should do a movie using this concept! :-D
ReplyDeleteMight be interesting to see Captain Universe (many different people who each become the same hero) paired with Robby Reed of "Dial H for Hero" (one person who becomes many different heroes). Not sure where you could go with it, but it feels like it has potential.
ReplyDeleteI second Bob Buethe's motion.
ReplyDeleteI, too, like Other Bob's suggestion.
ReplyDeleteThe ayes have it! Let the motion be "Cary'd."
ReplyDeleteDo you think that the H-dial could actually give Robbie the powers of Captain Universe?
