I am very interested to see how Doctor Strange will be utilized in
Thor: Ragnarok, especially given the fact that the bulk of the film is supposed to be set off of Earth. Will Strange be there for a framing sequence or join the other characters on their otherworld adventure? I just hope he has plenty of screen time alongside The Hulk - that's at least two of the Defenders finally united in the movies!
This is the third meeting between these two - they previously shared the spotlight in
STF #1044 and
STF #81...
Hopefully, his appearance in THOR 3 will involve his help against Surtur. I remember that he was very instrumental in a Silver Age Avengers tale involving that mythological fire demon, as well as the Frost Giant Ymir. Talk about fire and ice being natural enemies!
ReplyDeleteWho knows? Maybe this movie will also introduce Valkyrie. Add Gargoyle, and you have a good start for a Defenders movie.
ReplyDeleteThat's right, Bob - Valkyrie is in the movie - so that's 3 Defenders...
ReplyDeleteFWIW, I really enjoy the teaming of those two specific characters, their skill/power sets complement each other nicely for any mystical menace, and you can just SEE Jason Blood and Dr. Strange playing a game of chess on their off time...
ReplyDeleteI would purchase their ongoing adventures as a monthly subscription at my local comic shop in a heartbeat.
So to you sir, brilliant pairing and great job on their covers !
Thanks, Michael!
ReplyDeleteJust saw in this week's Comics Shop News that Marvel will be soon be releasing a new Defenders book with the Netflix line-up. Know this must be a bummer for Ross. Hopefully they will get the TV version of Patsy to dye her hair red and suit up in the yellow "Cat"suit as Hellcat!
ReplyDeleteThe Netflix shows are great so I will allow them the name confusion. There will be a second season of Jessica Jones so we may see some Hellcat action yet!
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of name confusion: I thought sure you'd have Sam Wilson on this "cover" in honor of Super Bowl 51. Seeing as how he started out as The Falcon. But, now, he's the current Capt. America (world's greatest patriot)!
