This cover comes about as the result of a request from Gail Simone, writer of
Secret Six, Birds of Prey, Batgirl, Wonder Woman, Red Sonja and many more titles. Gail's stories are filled with humor, interesting plot twists and always intriguing character interaction. Thanks for all the great reading and for suggesting this pairing, Gail!
Elektra could wipe them both off the map.
ReplyDeleteSuggestion: classic firestorm & classic Jack of Hearts! ❤
ReplyDeleteThis is more than just a great pairing, Ross; it's a great cover. I've barely seen anything of either character in actual comics, but I've seen enough that this story would intrigue me. Well done!
ReplyDelete@DMV: I second your motion. Firestorm was never used in any of Jack's four prior appearances.
ReplyDeleteWho is x23? Is she the earth-stf daughter of Vixen and the Wolverine?
ReplyDeleteShe's a transgender clone of Wolverine (produced by HYDRA, I think) who has come to regard him as a surrogate father.* And who now answers to "Lynx" (I think).
ReplyDelete*Sort of like Cassandra Cain with the Batman over at DC.
X-23 is now called "Wolverine." Her current series is "All-New Wolverine" (she's 15 issues in).
ReplyDeleteI did not know Gail Simone requested this. Great job at making this request for her.
ReplyDelete@Scott: "Wolverina" would sound a whole lot prettier. ;-)
ReplyDelete@Anonymous: Re: "Wolvernina" would be prettier, but since the copyright and trademark to be protected is "Wolverine", that's the name on the book.
ReplyDeleteYears ago, in South Africa, I happened to mention the mammal wolverine. And my friend assumed that was a female wolf. Which, if you think about it, it does. So Wolverine is a perfectly suitable gender-appropriate hero name in this instance!
ReplyDeleteCertainly prettier than the Spanish term: "El Gloton!"
ReplyDeleteMakes me immediately picture Fred "The Blob" Dukes.
