Batman Vs. Kraven the Hunter

Every time I see Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan on The Walking Dead, I am more convinced that he would make the perfect cinematic Kraven The Hunter.  Come on, Marvel - make it happen!

Batman tangled with Kraven before on a couple of early MS Paint covers - once with the aid of The Falcon, and once against the entire Sinister Six...

  1. Great cover for the 51st Anniversary of Adam West debuting as The Bright Knight on ABC!

Hopefully this new Spider-Man: Homecoming will launch a new franchise that will build to a Spider-Man: Sinister Six 6th film!

  2. I love your creativity with these covers. I grew up exclusively as a DC reader, so I often have little to no knowledge of many characters you use.

Did Ditch ever address why Kraven and The Creeper are modeled so similarly?

    1. What's to explain aside from the fur? Hardly similar at all.

  3. Please forgive my phone's autocorrect, it should have said Ditko.

  4. I gave up on TWDa while back so I can't say anything about Morgan. Kraven, however, would make an excellent cinematic Spidey villain. I'd love to see them use him.

As for the cover, I think Kraven would have made an excellent Batman foe. The other who would be a good foil for Bats, IMO would be Mysterio.

  5. A lot of Ditko's characters are modelled with similar movements. If you check out his Charleton Blue Beetle and Question, you'll see it in them too, and in the Destructor stories he did for Atlas.

  6. I think Anon was referring to the fact that they both wear shaggy capes.

  7. Great cover. I would love to see a cover (or perhaps a series of covers) in which the Spider-villains attempt to invade Gotham City only to be opposed by the Bat-Villains who don't want to share. Imagine the great potential matches:

The Joker versus The Green Goblin
Catwoman versus the Black Cat (I know they've met, but have they ever fought?)
    The Penguin versus the Vulture
    Catman versus Kraven the Hunter
    Clayface versus Sandman
    Mr. Freeze versus Dr. Octopus
    The Riddler versus Mysterio

    The mind boggles....

  8. An all-Ditko Creeper vs. Kraven cover would be fun, and I like Sonofjack's suggestion(s) as well.

Lately, though, I've been thinking of teaming up the Crimson Avenger and the Toxic Avenger. Maybe they could even form up a team with Captain Avenger (John Ritter's character in the movie "Some Kind of Hero"), though I'm at a bit of a loss to think of what they'd call themselves....

    1. Ha ha...the Avengers is a terrible name for a super team, right?

  9. How about the Crimson Avenger, the Toxic Avenger, Captain Avenger and Steed and Mrs. Peel. But what WOULD they call themselves...?

  10. @Sonofjack - Yoi forget the pulp hero The Avenger that DC published in the seventies. But you're right, what would they call themselves....... :-)

  11. Thanks for the shout-out Isaac, but please, note that I was piggybacking off of Bob Greenwade's comment. We must give credit where credit is due....

We also forgot Birdman's pet eagle....

  12. Actually, I can see this being done for real! Provided it was Kraven vs. Batman'66 and Agent Carter of SHIELD backing up Sheena, Queen of the Jungle (Tanya Roberts version).

  13. What about Kraven the Hunter versus Secret Six-era Catman?

  14. Isn't it obvious? They'd call themselves the Justice League.

  15. @BB: nah! It'd be better if they formed a group with superheroes who are no longer bound by copyright and called themselves...THE PUBLIC DOMAIN!

  16. Re: the proposed team sub-thread:

I almost forgot about a character from the Champions RPG: The Golden Avenger. He'd clearly lead this group. :)
