I recently picked up a copy of
Black Canary and Zatanna: Bloodspell by Paul Dini and Joe Quinones on a whim and found it to be a blast. It did a great job of spotlighting the differences between the two heroes and the story moved with action and humor at a breezy pace. I am a big fan of Joe Quinones' art and he impresses again here, both characters have rarely looked better. I highly recommend it for anyone who likes Zee or Dinah.
Wasn't that team-up billed as some kind of fishnet pairing? I thought I read something a while back that Dini wanted to do something like that...
ReplyDeleteGreat cover! This is one of those team-up I would've thought you would have done already...
;)
Yeah, plus Dini's wife is like a real life Zatanna as well. I was surprised I hadn't done this one too.
ReplyDeleteI tried getting that at my local direct-order shop when it first came out. The owner said it never even got shipped to him! So, at this point, I think I have a better chance of latching on to Red Anvil's WOTI #4.*
ReplyDeleteAs for this cover? Interesting premise. I mean, Wolverine makes left-wing GA look like a calm, collected middle-of-the-roader! So, BC teaming up with the former is admittedly a little surprising. Makes me wonder what enemy they would have so badly in common that they'd risk it. Intergang? The Hellfire Club? Maybe even collusion between the two!
*And as it stands, right now, those chances can be measured in negative integers.
I hear your pain, Anon. "BC & Z: Bloodpsell" was inexplicably unavailable at every comic shop in my neck of the woods, too. :-(
ReplyDeleteI got my copy through Comixology.
ReplyDeleteAn honest-to-goodness back issue made of paper? Or just page-by-page hard copy printout of some pain-in-the-butt, Kindle-style download? Because, my pc definitely can't do the latter!
ReplyDeleteNever mind! I just looked up their official website. They don't do paper back issues...and I don't do e-books. That requires a credit card I no longer have and a cellphone I will never own.
