Power Man and The Guardians of the Universe

Netflix' Luke Cage left the title character in an interesting place (SPOILERS for those who have not completed the series), with him going back to jail.  I am wondering where he will appear next.  Having Matt Murdock act as his legal counsel would make a lot of sense, but I wouldn't be surprised if we see him sooner during the series run of Iron Fist.  Their friendship is key, and I wonder if the producers want to establish it before The Defenders gathers all the heroes together.  Wherever he turns up, I look forward to hearing Mike Colter say, "Sweet Christmas" again.

  1. "Sweet Xmas!" Luke _survived_ his run-in with Solomon Grundy?

Such willpower to win must be the reason the GOTU recruited him.

  2. @Carycomic: Would that make him their "GOTU guy" as a GL?

  3. Somehow, I really, really like the idea of classic Luke Cage/Power Man as a Green Lantern. Although, wouldn't that yellow shirt be a problem for him?

  4. I considered turning it Green but it looked really ugly. The yellow might help defend against any rogue Lanterns.

  5. Gotta admit....this does look a very interesting angle. Any changes would probably be temporary, but cool idea anyways. And that yellow shirt, hell the whole look, would have to change.

  6. Maybe they want him partially because of the yellow shirt, for exactly why Ross said. Given how badly the Manhunters worked out, maybe the Guardians would decide it would be better to have a living "Fist of the Guardians", to deal with any future Sinestro or Vidar.

  7. @Kid Charlemagne: "Fist of the Guardians," huh? Sounds a lot better than "Soul Power Ring" (or something equally retro-Ebonic).

  8. P.S.---sorry. I was flashing back to the "Soul Power" episode of STATIC: TAS. Static's dad doing the Soul Power Dance was _not_ a pretty sight!

  9. @Cary: I was referring to the three robotic enforcers the Guardians sent after Sinestro in the flashback series Emerald Dawn II. They were called "The Fists of the Guardians".

I was thinking that maybe the Guardians, remembering the rebellion of the Manhunters, might decide to replace the "Fist" robots with living beings, of which perhaps Luke Cage would be the first.

  10. Maybe Danny Rand could join his buddy and become the "Iron Fist of the Guardians". ^_^

What puzzled me was why the Manhunters -- with just one exception, that appeared during 'Millennium', IIRC -- never went for a yellow paint-job...

  12. @Simreeve: it probably would've created too much STARK contrast. ;-)
