I love that some of the classic Hanna-Barbera characters have found a new home with
Future Quest, and hopefully through that they will find new fans as well. Now that DC is publishing new stories with the likes of The Herculoids, can some real life comic crossovers with DC heroes come to pass? I hope so.
Those 'new books' really are dreadful. Future Quest is about the best of the lot. Wacky Race World is horrible. Flintstones is rather mundane.
ReplyDeleteThere IS a real life crossover comic with Hanna-Barbera characters meeting DCU characters. It's called SCOOBY-DOO TEAM-UP. The most recent issue (#18) had a collection of canine characters commiserate with some of your finest mash-ups; Scooby met Krypto, Ace the bat-Hound, G'nort, Wonder Dog (of Super-Friends fame), Rex the "original" Wonder Dog, and Yankee Poodle!
ReplyDeleteYes, that's a fun series - but I am hoping for team ups with the action heroes as well.
ReplyDeleteThe Scooby Doo Team Up is actually very well done, so are the Batman '66 books (with Man from UNCLE and the Avengers).
ReplyDeleteI wish the Scooby Team Ups had the guest starring characters name up beside Scooby's like MTU, MTIO and BB all used to do.
They really are reminiscent of the Scooby movies of '72 or so.
maybe dc will do a team up with superman and space ghost i would love to see that....wow!!!
ReplyDeleteOn "Batman: The Brave and the Bold", there was a Batman/Space Ghost that was perfect. It even opened and closed with the classic H-B Space Ghost cards. GARY OWENS did Space Ghost.
ReplyDeleteI am loving "Future Quest" and I don't care about the other H-B/DC Comics.
Surely Space Ghost and Batman are the natural team-up... the main heroes from each universe. But if it were going to be slightly more accurate, I think that Space Ghost should team with Green Lantern or Adam Strange. Just for Alanna giving advice to Jan... :D :D :D
I had just about given up on comics until SCOOBY-DOO TEAM-UP came along. I still love it, and i am loving FUTURE QUEST as well. I've hoped from the start that we would see more DC/H-B team-ups in SCOOBY-DOO TEAM-UP. And now SCOOBY-DOO TEAM-UP has gone monthly! I also saw in the latest issue of Preview that in a future issue the Scooby Gang will be teaming up with Frankenstein, Jr. and the Impossibles (both of whom have already shown up in FUTURE QUEST).
ReplyDeleteNow... they MUST find a way to have greater interaction between the regular DC and the H-B characters other than Scooby and those "Meddling Kids". Personally, I'm hoping for a Batman/Blue Falcon team-up. And surely with all these H-B characters running around, somewhere there's room for an Inch High Private Eye story!
Or, since we've seen that the CW Barry Allen is (or was) a Space Ghost fan, maybe we can get some crazy imaginary-world Earth-hopping in live action...!
ReplyDeleteSounds like an opportunity for Green Lantern to meet the Great Gazoo!
ReplyDeleteI think I recognize this Doom Patrol art. Aren't the heroes fighting Chemo on the original cover?
ReplyDeleteWhatever the case, I like this team-up. I imagine the Patrollers arriving on Amzot through some crazy scientific accident, and working with Zandor to try and figure out a way home.
@Linnman - I haven't seen the CW Flash (yet), but in the 60s comics, Jay Garrick was a comic book character whom Barry Allen named himself after, only to later discover Earth-Two and the (to him) "real-life" Jay Garrick. The CW folks might just do the same with Space Ghost.
TUNDRO and DEVIL DINOSAUR would be awesome!
ReplyDeleteRF's right about FUTURE QUEST being the best of the Hanna-Barbera golden anniversary line-up. And he's also right that SDTU is highly reminiscent of "The New Scooby Doo Movies." Almost makes me wish I could see Space Ghost and GL Hal Jordan vs. Darth Vader!
ReplyDeleteAh, well.
As to this team-up? I have to wonder if this is a mistaken identity slugfest manipulated by Garguax?
How about the Doom Patrol having to team up with Luthor, Sinestro, Reverse Flash, Solomon Grundy....
ReplyDeleteagainst Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet calling themselves....
"THE LEGION OF DOOM PATROL" !!!!!
@Anonymous - Classic!
ReplyDeleteDamn, right in the feels with this. Enjoyed Herculiods as kid, despite the 20 year age-gap, and I'm a sucker for anything good with the Doom Patrol, so double boo-yay!
ReplyDelete@Cary Comic - I have to suspect that, while Garguax may be working on this, the real mastermind of this is Uglor.
ReplyDeleteActually, ELS, the Spider-Queen (aka "Black Widow") from the Council of Doom would be more appropriate. "Tangled web of deception," and all that jazz.
