When I was a kid I loved the band Kiss because they we kind of like superheroes with their whole look and personas. May favorite was Ace Frehley, the "alien". I even had some Kiss trading cards which had facts about the band members on the backs of them On Frehley's card, it mentioned that his instrument was "lead guitar"... which I misread as the metal lead. I figured that being from another planet made him strong enough to lift such a heavy guitar!
You wanted the best, you got the best! KISS! So great to see them and the Joker in a book I'd pick up in a heartbeat. I'm still a huge KISS fan. If you haven't heard them in awhile, you should check out their latest, the KISS Rocks Vegas DVD. Oh, and did you see the KISS meets Scooby Doo DVD a year or so ago?

ReplyDeleteI first heard Kiss in 1977 with their Love Gun album. I have been a fan ever since. They remain one of my favorites, especially the original line up, a line up that I do not anticipate seeing again. I mean, the other line-ups of this band have put out great music, but usually nothing beats the original. I saw this with another of my favorites - Van Halen. Under every incarnation of this band, there has been great music, but the original line-up was absolutely incredible.
ReplyDeleteI am like you, Ross, in that I viewed Kiss as superheroes in a sense. Of course I saw Kiss Meets the Phantom way back when as well as the meeting with Scooby-Doo. I like this pairing with the Joker. There are multiple stories that came to mind with this cover.
I always thought his name was "Space Ace."

or maybe it could even have been Lead, himself? How about a KISS/Metal Men team-up?
Other Bob: I think KISS and Pat Boone has happened in real life. I know for certain that Pat's shared a stage with Alice Cooper.
ReplyDeleteSimreeve: KISS/Metal Men would be fantastic. The natural title would be "Heavy Metal," though Ross is inventive enough that he probably could come up with something better.
In your defense I will say that the 70's era Gibson Les Pauls "Space Ace" was playing weigh a ton. Lead guitar indeed. For those of us on the Led Zeppelin side of that era of rock call it "Stairway to Acupuncture."
