Batman is currently crossing over for real with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the comics, which is pretty cool - but I have to say that I am surprised they are sharing an adventure with The Dark Knight before The Man Without Fear. The Turtles came about as a response to the popularity of comics like Frank Miller's
Daredevil run, and it seems to me that a story featuring them together would be a natural. I wondered why it's never happened?
Especially since they share an origin:

Their origin story in the 1980's implied that they were created in the same incident that gave Matt Murdock his powers, so it would seem like a natural team-up, with the characters already existing in the same comic book universe.
ReplyDeleteOTOH, they began as a parody of Miller's Daredevil (with the title also being an allusion to the X-Men), so they might not blend well with the original. It would be like Austin Powers or Maxwell Smart teaming up with James Bond, or George of the Jungle meeting Tarzan.
If these five heroes ever meet again, they should fight the combined forced of The Hand and The Foot Clans.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I'm loving the Batman/TMNT team-up and would definitely be on board for a Daredevil/TMNT outing. The Turtles have certainly had an active crossover history having already met Cerebus, Usagi Yojimbo, Archie and Savage Dragon. And I'm guessing there are others I'm not aware of....
Nice blending of the artwork on this one.
ReplyDeleteThis should happen.
This would be a cool team-up. Your text, Ross, and a couple of the comments here give me information that I didn't know before, but despite others' misgivings I think this could work -- the Turtles have developed a life and personality of their own. (Also, I happen to think that a James Bond/Maxwell Smart team-up would be interesting in its own right!)
ReplyDeleteOh, and if the Turtles find Daredevil's dislike of ninjas troublesome, just wait 'til they meet the Tick!
Let's just say that, when it comes to a mistaken identity slugfest between Hornhead and the TMNT's (with the latter having already cross-trained with the Dark Knight)?
ReplyDeleteMy money would _not_ be on Daredevil. ;-)

ReplyDelete2nd postscript (@ Ross): How about a one-on-one teaming between the Tick and Spidey? I checked the former's previous seven appearances, here. And the latter wasn't in any of them! So, you definitely wouldn't be needlessly repeating yourself.
ReplyDeleteHOW ABOUT YOU DO A PHOTO COVER OF A NETFLIX SPECIAL CROSSOVER EVENT, MARVEL'S DAREDEVIL MEET'S THE UNBREAKABLE KIMMY SCHMIDT.
ReplyDeleteOr, better yet, Ben Affleck's Daredevil vs. Rex Smith's Daredevil?!
ReplyDelete...or the TV Hulk vs. the CGI movie version?

ReplyDeleteEven better, BB! :-)
ReplyDeleteHow about Marvel's 'Daredevil' v the Golden Age ("Death-defying") 'Daredevil', who's seen print quite recently in some works from Dynamite?
ReplyDeleteAnd how about Maxwell Smart and Captain Cold (real name of Len Snart), under the title of "Get Snart!"?
Simreeve, DD/Original DD was one of my first STF covers, check the archives.

Okay, so I see. Nice.
Now, how about one of Marvel's Yellowjackets (preferably Hank Pym) meeting the original Yellowjacket? (the latter was published by Charlton, or by a company that subsequently became them, during the Golden Age).
^-^
@ Simreeve: Having seen how DC operates under its current management? They'd probably amalgamate the real Golden Age Yellowjacket with the paternal grandfather of Merryman (leader of the Inferior Five)!
ReplyDeleteNo, they left him on Earth-4, apparently he appeared (or at least was mentioned) as the father of that world's current US president in the only 'Multiversity' story that I haven't yet read...
