It will be cool to see what
Captain America: The Winter Soldier will be like with the modern day setting and new characters, but I would not have minded seeing another story set in World War Two. They glossed over most of his career in the first film and I am sure there are plenty of stories to tell from his wartime days. The WWII Cap costume worked a lot better than the updated one that he used in
The Avengers, hopefully there will be a few changes made for his next cinematic appearance.
As it happens, something like this story is very close to what I was thinking during this part of the first Captain America movie -- especially on seeing that he, and not Nick Fury (as originally done in the Marvel Universe), was in charge of the Howling Commandos.
ReplyDeleteThat said, it might be interesting to see Sgt. Rock and Sgt. Fury side by side.
Has Joe Kubert ever drawn Capt. America? Have any of the Kuberts?
ReplyDeleteSP: I'm sure Adam and Andy have.
ReplyDeleteBop: Sgts. Rock and Fury will meet in an upcoming cover.
I like how you summed up the story in the captions better than usual-- even though I'm not really a fan of either character, this is a story I'd love to read!
ReplyDeleteSgt. Rock and Cap met "for real" in a nice scene in Byrne's Batman & Captain America Elseworlds crossover of 1996.
