So far, my favorite of the new Saturday animated DC shorts has been the
Sword of the Atom two-parter. I loved that Mini-Series (and its related Specials) back in the 80's. Gil Kane's art really shined in the tropical setting and there was something very cool about Ray Palmer riding a frog, sword in hand and ready for battle.
Mouse Guard continues the tradition of forest animals in epic tales with beautiful artwork, so this felt like it would be a fun combination.
Love it!
ReplyDeleteTwo-parter? I'm still waiting for them to get to the mini-series' halfway point four chapters in. I do think it's wonderful how faithful they've been while still managing to tell the story in minute long bursts for a new medium. No Jean Loring at all, but that would unnecessarily complicate the format. Anyway, this is a fun team-up, and a new twist on the Tiny Titan's many battles with critters.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Archaia Press, how about pairing founder Mark Smylie's goddess-touched warrior queen Artesia with goddess-blessed swordswoman Red Sonja?
ReplyDeleteI'm not familiar with Artesia. Red Sonja has a few cover appearances coming up, though.
