Doctor Strange and The Legion of Super-Heroes in: "Master of Mystic Interrogation!"

Based on the costumes, I'd say that this adventure takes place prior to Doctor Strange's first encounter with the LSH on this blog, back in STF #3546.  As for who the traitor might be in the scene above?  I never fully trusted someone who claims to be a descendant of Brainiac...

  1. But then again... Chameleon Boy...?

  2. True, he did fall under the spell of Mordru's blood-gem crystals back in SUPERBOY v.1/#188. Just as Brainiac 5 was biochemically driven mad by Pulsar Stargrave in SUPERBOY v.1/ #223-251. Plus, he never claimed to be an actual descendant of the Coluan android! Merely the great-grandson of the forcibly adopted orphan the Computer Tyrants gave to their cyber-spy as a cover story (father-and-son space explorers). Plus, if Supergirl considers Querl to be worthy of her love, how bad can he really be?

No; what I think we have here is another one of Mordru's simulacra posing as a Legionnaire (as once happened with Cosmic Boy). But, while Cham and Brainy might be the logical suspects, based on the cited past incidents, I rely on that old mystery writer custom of pointing out that the least likely suspect is almost always the true culprit.

So, I'm gonna guess...Colossal Boy! Simply because his mother is the President of 31st century Earth.

    1. After all, what better way to infiltrate the LSH than to impersonate their resident shape-changer (whom they already take for granted)?

    2. A Skrull who replaced Chameleon Boy? What better member for a shape-changing Skrull to imitate?

  4. Yeah, based on the costumes, but not with that more modern HQ in the background. I'm thinking alternate timeline.

  5. Oh, don't worry about Brainiac 5. His great-great-grandfather was adopted.

Based on poses, I'm guessing that, in this scenario, Superboy is secretly Ultraboy.

  6. Maybe yera was disguised as shrinking violet longer the we thought.

  7. Yeah, Superboy's pose totally gives it away. I was thinking a Durlan infiltrator using advanced tech to simulate Kryptonian powers, but I do like Bob's theory as well. Have we ever gotten anything canonically suggesting that Earth-3 Ultraman was once Ultraboy?

And before I go, you know I must… LONG LIVE THE LEGION!!!!

  8. If a member has been programmed and didn't know it, what would the EYE say? Even the Legion doesn't always have smooth times but Strange will make light work of this situation! LONG LIVE THE LEGION!!

    1. Valid question! Even Wonder Woman's magic lasso proved ineffective on a religious fanatic who was unalterably convinced that what he told her was the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth...as he perceived it.

  9. I've got it. Plot twist. Doctor Strange is actually Universo. (This was adapted from his first appearance cover.)
