White Tiger and Batman
This is a team up that I am surprised that I never got around to when I began this blog as The Brave and the Bold: The Lost Issues. I always liked The White Tiger as a character and it was high time I remedied that omission.
In this case, Ross, you've provided a very powerful remedy. Because as fascinating as superhuman characters might be, what you've done here is show that the most super thing about costumed heroes like Batman is their unrelenting courage and dedication. The same kind of courage and dedication exhibited by everyday heroes in our police and fire departments. Bravo! :-)
For a second or two, I thought the Dark Knight was working alongside the Silver Surfer! Not that that wouldn't be an intriguing team-up in itself. But, I'd prefer a one-on-one combo of the Silver Surfer and the Martian Manhunter, if that's possible.
i remember a letters column fan, years ago, iwho questioned the 'new'Bat style being done. Robin had to call Batman back to save the crime victim, otherwise Batman was 'just' going after the criminal. Over the last few years, there have been way too many events where people needed super heroes to help get them out of the threatening situations they were in. These kinds of covers are needed just as much as seeing the bad guy that has to be stopped. Thanks Ross.
I don't think I've thought of him until you made that comment, I guess he never made much of an impression on me. Thor was one of the Avengers that battled Doomsday in STF #4152
@Anon755 & Ross: why not "Split!" the difference and have Doomsday face off against Black Adam and the current Capt. Marvel (aka the original Ms. Marvel, Binary, Warbird, and Linda Danvers' sister).
I also like El Tigre Blanco created by the legendary George Perez. Great cover Ross.

@Det. Tobor: well said! :-)
ReplyDeleteStill waiting for Thor/Doomsday or Superman/Mangog. By the way - why has Mangog never appeared once in 4389 issues?

ReplyDeleteWhat would've been really disappointing would be if you'd never teamed White Tiger with Bronze Tiger -- which, of course, you have.
ReplyDeleteWhich must inspire you to "paws" and reflect.
ReplyDelete;-D
Of course, the natural team up would be "WHITE TIGER" and "BRONZE TIGER" in a martial arts battle...
ReplyDeleteWith the TMNT caught in the middle!
ReplyDelete@Anon@8:16: As opposed to working together, as previously?
ReplyDeleteWhy not? It's not like mistaken identity slugfests will ever go out of style.
ReplyDeleteThe White Tiger always reminded me on Marvel’s Tarantula character. I dunno why.
ReplyDeleteAny chance of seeing a team up between the Tarantula characters from DC, Marvel and Atlas?
