Terra's arc in New Teen Titans was one of the best in comics, and her turn was as much of a surprise as it was when The Thunderbolts revealed themselves to be The Masters of Evil in disguise at the end of their first issue. Sadly, Terra's fate was sealed - maybe she would have had a more successful redemption story if she had joined the T-Bolts instead?
Wow, what a spectacular cover! Very nicely done!
ReplyDelete@Ross: it would definitely have been interesting to see her take on Sonny "Humus Sapien" Borredo.
ReplyDeleteIf Terra worked with Black Lightning and the The Thunderbolts would they have taken on the Wizard Wizard?? do they all get health insurance?
ReplyDelete@Tobor: were you, perchance, trying to type "Weather Wizard"?
ReplyDelete;-D
Not for the first time, and not even as the first person to say it: The Thunderbolts need a team-up with the Suicide Squad.
ReplyDeleteSomething else from the Department of Rivalries: The Librarians vs. Warehouse 13.
@Anon 9:57, yep. Had to type it twice and there were more problems than i thought.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
@Bob Greenwade: that second one should be doable...if it's done as a photo-capture.
ReplyDelete@Anon@3:39: I wouldn't object to a photo cover, but both have had comics adaptations as well.
ReplyDeleteWhen did Gravity join the Thunderbolts?
ReplyDeleteI still remember when Judas Contract originally came out; even to the last issue, there seemed there was a chance for her; the cover to the Annual portrayed her between the Titans and Deathstroke & HIVE, looking conflicted, as if she needed to choose a side.
ReplyDeleteAnd then the story...man, there was NO conflict at all...she was, and remained FIRMLY against the Titans.
And the ending...Wow. Blew me away.
@Scott: I think that's Terra, herself, negating the geomagnetic field.
ReplyDeleteThe Judas Contract remains a masterpiece of the 1980s Bronze Age of comics and a capstone to the era! Wolfman & Perez were literary superstars at the top of thier game. Honestly, as the '90s emerged, I felt DC (and Marvel) began thier steep decline. Judas Contract storyline and Crisis on Infinite Earths were the last time I was riveted by DC's output. By the mid 90s I was exclusively buying independent and foreign published titles.
ReplyDeleteI almost hate to admit it. But, I found "The Janus Directive" (a 1989 Checkmate/SS crossover) way better.
ReplyDeleteAs Amanda Waller's depiction, in that comic book story arc, laid the foundation for the cinematic version depicted in the first Suicide Squad movie.
