Ken Roskos, a Patron of this Blog, suggested I pair these two together, and I was surprised that is was a match up that I had not gotten to yet. I fondly remember Iron Man's reluctant team ups with Doctor Doom, and I think that a tale like this could give the same vibe.
STARK raving madness! Tony may have an Iron will, but even he is not immune to "magic". Had to be able to translate from scratch both ways as well. Would he be treating Darth differently than Victor? Only "the force" knows for sure.
ReplyDeleteNice to see his solar powered rocket suit that will recycle oxygen and fuels working so well.
You are so right, Ross. And I can easily imagine an official crossover would be more than possible in a real-world comic using the (technically still-legendary) character Iaco Stark!
ReplyDeleteA great pairing - hard to believe we haven't seen it here before. Naturally there will be great friction, and a battle royal...
ReplyDeleteBut it's the follow-up issue that I want to see. Because Tony Stark is always innovating that armor of his. And, now he's seen Darth's fashionable headgear, envy will kick right in...and it won't be long before there is a redesign of that Iron Man helmet!
This isn't just a great pairing; it has clear potential for being a compelling story. I've said many times that Marvel and DC should make this into a real comic with you as editor, Ross, and I still think so.
ReplyDeleteThat said, it'd be interesting to see a follow-up later on, with Vader's armor redesigned in the Stark yellow-and-red color scheme. (I think the cape would remain black, though.)
PS: I'm not the only person, though I think I was the first, to have suggested Tony team up with Raven, both quite angry, for a story titled "Stark Raven Mad!"
I like the idea of Tony team up with Raven but the Raven from T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents and Tony helping Raven update his flying suit.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see a STAR WARS/LOST IN SPACE crossover entitled(*)...
ReplyDelete"DARK LORD OF THE SMITHS."
*Get those anti-nausea pills ready, folks. ;-D
The pain, the pain!
DeleteIsaac
Or a Star Trek:TNG/Lost in Space crossover.
ReplyDeleteDeanna Troi: "I am sensing great pain."
Dr. Smith: "Oh, the pain! The pain!"
Thank you Ross, I'm honored again! And you brought this about with super-speed. Wasn't quite ready for the pun-ishment, but Shellhead is definitely the "droid" they're looking for. Vader in red and gold? Hmm. That might work better with C-3PO. Maybe Tony will be forced to figure out why the targeting systems on the Stormtroopers' blasters were so messed up. Perhaps the House of Mouse will bring these two together in some form, someday.
ReplyDelete@Ken Roskos: now, if only we can get Ross to depict Bozo the (Golden Age) Iron Man meeting Ace Buckley's time-traveling girlfriend, Toni Stark.---Cary
ReplyDelete@Carycomic....Luke.."C-3P0, you could be replaced!!" and in strolls B-9.
ReplyDeleteC3PO: "Oh, the pain. The pain!"
ReplyDeleteRobot B-9: "That does not compute."
