Marvel seems intent on bringing the Young Avengers to the MCU. That's all good and well, but these guys are the teen Marvel team that I'd really like to see join the fun. I think their series sold a lot better than any of the Young Avengers titles, after all.
They remind me of a young version of the original X-Men. Not impossible, but not a sure thing either.
ReplyDeleteIf that happens, Ross, don't expect a comics-faithful depiction. Cinematic Namorita will more likely be another amphibious Mayan with a pierced nose.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like Darkseid is planning to engage in a little gigantomachia* with Thanos (from STF #4238).
ReplyDelete*From the ancient Greek, roughly translating as "war of giants."
@carycomic, agree 100%, gigantomachia it is. But why could Thanos and Darkseid be about to square up?
ReplyDeleteThe clue is for all to see in STF 4239. Having jilted Nighthawk, Giganta is now single again and perhaps looking for a new beau.
Perhaps we'll find out in a later cover which universe-threatening Big Bad ends up the Really Big Lady.
@Anon@8:31: You're not wrong, but other than the established cultural and biological alterations, I think we can expect Namorita's backstory to be reasonably faithful.
ReplyDeleteRight now it's pretty sure that Richard Rider / Nova will be introduced at some point; Namorita, Angelica Jones / Firestar, and Jubilation Lee / Jubilee / Wondra are also very likely, even if the New Warriors never become a reality. But if any other founding, early, or highly popular member of the group enters the MCU (not counting Dagger, but certainly including Scarlet Spider and Hindsight Lad), then we can expect the team to be upcoming in some way.
Since Marvel movies team members do not match comic team members it is possible a number of members of New Warriors could be members of Marvel Cinema Teen Avengers.
ReplyDelete@Cary and Davejonz: I'd gladly buy that story for sixty cents! :-D
ReplyDeleteIf we can get Firestar into the MCU, is it too much to hope for a "Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends" movie? That'd be great!
ReplyDeleteIf nothing else, we could get Angelica Jones introduced as a niece, second cousin, or even long-lost half-sister of Jessica Jones! Thereby paving the way for the MCU intro of Luke Cage, too.*
ReplyDelete*He ceases throwing spit balls and shows himself out.
P.S. @ Bob Greenwade---including the ret-con where she's actually the magically produced clone of Namor's namesake cousin?
