You know, I could go for an entire series centered around Wildcat training other heroes to fight. You could have a rotating roster of guest stars coming to Ted Grant's gym to polish up their super-heroic fisticuffs as only he can. And as we all know, in comics when heroes gather for whatever reason, action is sure to ensue!
Great the way you've built up Coach Wildcat.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you could have him open up his own School For Superheroes..
Or have him applying for a job at Hogwarts? And getting an interviw with Dumbledore?
I'm probably one of the few people willing to admit to being old enough to remember Cloak and Dagger's comic book origin. Namely, their powers being the side-effect of an experimental designer street drug for which they were unwillngly used as guinea pigs (discourtesy of the Kingpin). I therefore wonder if a sequel to this cover might include C&D having a run-in with Artemis Brooks-Crock (daughter of the original Huntress and Sportsmaster) as a result of bounty hunting the pair for Kingpin.
ReplyDeleteI always liked Wildcat.
ReplyDeleteMe, too. Has he ever been teamed up with Spidey, here?
ReplyDeleteIf, by that, you mean the Peter Parker version, yes. Three years/nine months ago and 2,116 issues back.
ReplyDeleteCarycomic, my first exposure to them was the Spider-Man / New Mutants crossover in a Marvel Team-Up annual, which spelled out their origin pretty well.
ReplyDeleteGood to know, Ivan. But, those under age 21 reading this might not be as lucky as us! They might only know the televised depiction of C&D's origin from the ill-fated one-season wonder.
ReplyDeleteWildcat , Ted is always a favourite ! Cloak and dagger always a 2nd rate pair whose adventures were dated even when they were released…. sad but true…
ReplyDelete@Simon: debatable.
ReplyDelete"I'M GOING TO RIP YOU APART, because it's the only way to train you. luv that logic.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, I'll heal...then you can go on training me.
Wildcat sounds like the Mad-eye Moody of boxing.
ReplyDeleteAfter watching Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (again) last night, I got the feeling, as I have with every other viewing, that Stephen got some sort of martial-arts training somewhere, and I don't think it was Kamar-Taj. I think the MCU version (if I'm right) probably learned it in his youth, but perhaps the STFU version could learn some from Ted Grant.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Ted Grant could finally meet the Ross-version of Marga the Golden Age Panther Woman.
ReplyDeleteOnly if Ross can find enough image captures of her.
ReplyDeleteLove CLoak And Dagger, I could see Catwoman joining in to help Wildcat. Or the Black Cat could join too.
