This is a pairing that I think could work. despite their disparate backgrounds I fell like there would be some mutual respect for one another. And if their timelines don't exactly match up - well, strange occurrences are known to happen in the Bermuda Triangle, after all.
Good point, Ross. For instance; what if Belit, Queen of the Black Corsairs, wound up housing the psionic essence of...V'lana? She who almost successfully usurped both the throne and the husband of the redheaded hydrokinetic-it-isn't-safe-to-name-here!
ReplyDeleteI've always felt V'lana deserved at least a second shot. And, let's face it; DC has brought back super-villains from much more violent deaths than suicide-by-electric eel!
Both have dealt with magic. Atlantis and Conan...no problem. Too bad you cou!d never fit in Scoobie-doo too. "Swords and Tridents"... the next level in the updated D&D saga.
ReplyDeleteSome sort of chthonic entity using the Triangle's mystical energies to create a time-bridge, either intentionally or as a side effect, would fit right in for both characters, and they'd fit together especially well if Conan is a few years into his rulership.
ReplyDeleteIt could even be an element in the ongoing Time War in the STFU (something I'd love to see come to a real head in #5000!).

ReplyDeleteAnd there's the possibility of a photo cover crossover with Kevin Sorbo as another King of Atlantis, Kull the Conqueror (one of the several jump-the-shark flicks for the barbarian craze).

Long before the Hyborian Age, ancient Cimmeria was a strip of land that broke off from Gondwana, and drifted north for many centuries in the prehistoric oceans, until it was merged into Eurasia. During that time, horrific, primitive sea-beasts became trapped and had to go dormant in what transformed into Cimmeria's inland lakes. But their fell power also maintained a link with the Laurasian continent, and the primitive sea that would go on to be the Caribbean.
ReplyDeleteCenturies later, they awakened in their new landlocked area, and threatened Conan's ancestors in gruesome battles. Now, the last remaining creature has emerged, and seeks Conan as the remaining decedent of its primeval enemies. And the power of it's connection to the nexus which became the Bermuda Triangle now threatens Aquaman's Atlantis as well, drawing both heroes together.
Quite a stretch, I'll admit.
I think this would've worked way better with the beard-and-hook Aquaman, but it's cool either way. Always nice to see Conan here, no matter the costar!

Also both characters were portrayed by actor Jason Momoa.

Ah yeah, Bermuda Triangle antics!
ReplyDeleteYou know what would be a fun take? Is if one party's encounter with the other is their first, yet it's chronologically the second or more encounter for the other.
Say for this example, this was Aquaman's first encounter with Conan, but for Conan this was the 3rd or so encounter with Aquaman, so Conan has the familiarity but Aquaman doesn't.
Then in another adventure, it's Conan's first time fighting with Aquaman, but Aquaman knows Conan by now, and Conan references this adventure in their first team-up.
