The Fantastic Four and Kamandi

Time for another all-Kirby cover. Like many writers, I am using poor little Franklin Storm as a human mcguffin.  That youngster and his burgeoning powers provided a plot device that moved many a story forward.

Kamandi previously met The Thing on a MTIO MS Paint cover from back in 2011...

  1. Poor Franklin! If it's not one Thing, it's another.*

In this case, it appears as if Franklin is going to be the Kirbyesque equivalent of Cable Askanison. But, even if I'm wrong, it's still a great blending of images. Congrats, Ross!

*Sorry, Mr. Greenwade. Just couldn't resist. :-)

  2. Fantastic cover Ross, Love it when you take one artist like Kirby and put his/her characters together.

  3. Absolutely brilliant cover! And from my point of view, especially welcome. As it happens, I have only just struggled through DC's misconceived Kirby tribute, "The Kamandi Challenge." Lots of usually dependable writers leaving the next a get-out-of-that cliffhanger to resolve - fine in theory but someone forgot to mention an overall story might be a good idea too.
While I suspect the writers had a lot of fun playing in the Kirby sandpit, this reader certainly didn't, and I had my fond Kamandi-memories bludegeoned.
Ross, this timely cover has restored them. Many thanks.

  4. Howzabout Cassie Cain vs. Taskmaster, next?

  5. Between Sue and Reed, any child of theirs will most likely need protection as they develop what ever power they have. Poor kid will never be "storm" proofed.

  6. Maybe so. But, now, if Sue's brother married Ororo Munro, would that make her...

Nah! That's too old a joke.

  7. @ My Namesake: That's better than Storm Storm!

  8. Good one Ross. Now how about teaming Kamandi and Ka-Zar! All Kirby of course.

  10. Then, they're six years overdue for a reunion. :-)
