The Fantastic Four and Aquaman

One of the cool thing about The Fantastic Four being a family is all the story possibilities that are presented.  You don't need a reason for all of the heroes to gather in one place when they live together and share each others lives.  They are just as likely to be found on vacation or hanging out at home as they are getting together for a strategy session.  No matter where the FF found themselves, action and excitement always seemed to find them.

  1. Hey! I remember this guy; "The Monster From Lost Lagoon" (FF v.1/#97, circa 1970).

    Great capture, Ross! :-)

  2. In that sense, Ross, I think the FF are nigh-unique. The closest thing DC has to a superhero family (that I can think of) is the House of El, and Kal and Kara don't have that many adventures together.

On another topic entirely, I think you could gather together Guy Gardner (during his Red Lantern phase), the Hulk, Donald Duck, the Tasmanian Devil, and perhaps Muzzle (of the Road Rovers) or Anger (from the movie Inside Out) into "The Gods of Wrath!"

  3. One interesting thing that these properties have in common... no character pictured has ever kept their identity secret!

  4. ben w. if you read the strange tales 101 + the human torch does try to keep his and Susan’s identities secret,
though being the Torch not very well, does anyone know if the Thing can get sunburned ? at least Susan is putting on sunblock.

  5. Any way Johnny could get a sunburn if his body is at rest? Or would he keep absorbing the rays without any change?
The cover seems off a tad bit. You could expect a "super" to be on guard duty for a marriage ceremony, but a vacation? Arthur,"Hey, look. An unfortunate idiot is coming." Or, "Yes, do you have an appointment?" Or the being going.."Deliveries."
I do miss the classic look for the family..Jack had them completely relaxed and happy. Did anyone ever verify if the cosmic rays affected Reed's mental capabilities?

  6. Hmm... Maybe Aquaman will start to get feelings for Sue, the way Namor did back then?

  8. @Tobor: maybe Aquaman's afraid they were going to be shrunk-napped and turned into more of Billy's "sea monkeys" like he nearly was.*

*Back in June 2014's STF #792.

  11. Seriously, though, Ross: have you ever considered a super-team fight between Agents of the Abyss and the Ocean's Seven? Seeing as how Namor and the Gill Man from the Black Lagoon have an apparently long-standing enmity (always wanted to use that word!) with each other.

  12. Ha! When I first saw the cover, I thought "Man, Ambush Bug is really 'roidded up!"
