Superman and Throg

We say Throg the Thor Frog make a cameo in the first season of Loki.  Now that the Disney+ series is set to return, I really hope we get a chance to see him again.  Let's see him break loose from his bottle trap and pull off some mini-Mojlnir stunts! I know that I would certainly be entertained.

Throg met the Man of Steel along with some other JLA members back in STF #557...

  1. The team up of Loki and Mr. Mxyzptlk is an interesting one to pull over our heroes, but would they really get along that well before backstabbing ensues so the Lion of Steel and the Frog of Thunder can take advantage to end their malicious magic?

  2. Neat! Reminds me of that old Beauty and the Beast TV show. If I didn't enjoy it, I'd have to be lyin' man!

  3. I remember this cover! From the Early Silver Age!! Superman was being hexed by a raven-haired Circe!!! Of course, it later turned out to be some kind of elaborate scam. But, I won't spout any further spoilers in case the entire story has been repro'd on the Internet, someplace.

Re: Throg in a bottle. How much you want to bet Gator Loki tries to make him lunch in the Season 2 opener?---Carycomic

  4. The two villains here -- Loki and Mxyzptlk -- should become best buds. The Fifth Dimension's chief mischief-maker and the Norse God of Mischief? That would challenge a whole team of heroes!

I took a look at Throg's history on the blog, and I see where he and the other Pet Avengers have teamed with Vixen... but not with Animal Man. Joining him with that group would renew some interesting discussions on whether AM would be able to duplicate PA powers.

@Anon@9:38: No, I don't think that'll happen... in the opener. But if Throg makes so much as a cameo during the season, it very likely will happen. And then, to really do the character justice, he'll have to escape into the 616 reality, and then have some legal matter for Jen Walters to clear up.

  5. @Bob Greenwade: Assuming he doesn't croak, first. ;-)

If Jen were to represent Throg in a personal injury lawsuit against Alligator Loki, it would make for a very interesting episode or two.

  7. What kind of personal injury, though? Broken ribbits?

  9. Nothing wrong with hope. It's probably just too much to expect!

  10. Curt Swan art? bonus!! Supes has gone thru so many changes and replacements since then. The current Superman, Lois, and son are from Convergence mini series and had their history rewritten. This Earth was different when they were brought to it. Wonder Woman had been in love with the original Superman and the original Lois wasn't.

Brings up a question - who is more powerful - Loki or Dr Manhattan??

  11. Galactus could probably butt-whup them both.

  12. Maaann, I thought it when I saw Throg's team up with the JL, but I got to say it here, I'd dearly love to see the Frog of Thunder team up with Henry Boltinoff's Super-Turtle from the early 60's DC Comics shorts. I have a deep fondness and great love for the little bugger with a shell of steel.

  13. Turt-el vs. Thunderbunny! Nuff said.

  14. I'd prefer Super Turtle and Batfink.

  15. Why not Super-Turtle and TMNT?

As for Throg, I'd love to see him with Hoppy the Marvel Bunny.

  16. Say, it might be interesting to see Throg paired with Ch'p. (Well, if Thor can hang out with the GotG, why not the GLC?)

  17. Sounds O.K. to me.
