We've seen Spider-Man break loose from being trapped through sheer force of strength and will before, but that's got to be pretty tiring, even for a superhero. He could really use some suit upgrades from Scott Free. You never know when a hidden lockpick or some of the other 4th World gadget might come in handy.
No one's been around yet?? This is a different kind of cover. Despite everything else, Peter is growing older (again). He needs to measure what he can do so that he doesn't run into a limit as he's doing his good deeds. But, Ross, would Peter really be able to follow in Bruce Wayne's steps by gadgetizing his costume?? Look how often he had problems with his web shooters.
ReplyDelete"I swore on Uncle Ben's grave that I'd never do another show-biz stunt again. 'Do a little act for the community they said, it's for charity they said!' Well, we know what happened to the itsy-bitsy spider."
ReplyDeleteWell, why not? Spidey did pretty well (at least, in the MCU) with the Iron Spider suit. A few little upgrades from Mister Miracle, Batman, Blue Beetle,* and other inventor's from DC's side of the street** couldn't hurt.
ReplyDelete*I think Peter's worked with Ted Kord before on this blog; if not, that needs to be rectified. Either way, I'm pretty sure he's never borrowed or adapted any of Ted's equipment.
**I learned recently that, at the very beginning, the comics companies that would become DC and Marvel were literally across the street from each other.
This reminds me of the time the Green Goblin almost drowned Spidey in a giant test tube using one of Blackwell The Great's magic tricks.*
ReplyDelete*See "Magic Malice" @ SPIDER-MAN: TOS (1967)---Carycomic.
Makes me wonder what Zatanna would say if she was the one who had Spidey in this same position. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThis cover is so well constructed! Well done, sir. 👍

ReplyDeleteI want to say, if nothing else, Spidey teamed up with the Blue Beetle (Jim Boyd RIP) on The Electric Company.
Blue & Miles were on #3187. Jan 3, 2021.
ReplyDeletePeter was on #1462. April 14 2016
Jaimie with Peter. 998. Jan 6 2015
Peter. With Ted 284. Jan 22 2013
@Tobor: Thanks for living up to your title! I truly was thinking of #284 and #1462 for Peter and Ted. If Ted's willing to bury the hatchet, he might be willing (and certainly he'd be able) to fix Spidey up with a few small gozmos... as opposed to the rather large "gizmo" that Peter tried to "borrow."
ReplyDeleteHas Spidey ever teamed up with the Iron Beetle?
