Deadman and Chance Falconer

I mentioned yesterday how Phantom Stranger's shadow should be a key element in bringing him to the big screen, and for Deadman I think his voice will be very important.  If an actor with a distinct way of speaking is hired, then it gives the other actors that play roles in which they get possessed by him something to perform with.  This was the angle that was taken for Deadman's appearance in the Justice League Unlimited cartoon, and it worked very well there.

  1. Ross, that's your stage training shining thru. Will Deadman be playing around Miles Belloc? Or would that be bad for his Image?

  2. Nice to see that the temporary fusion with Wolverine worked. :-)

  3. How about teaming her up with George "The Green Ghost" Chance?

George (trying to sound like James Earl Jones): "I'm your maternal grandfather."

  4. I agree with you, Ross: a distinctive speech pattern is the best way to handle someone like Deadman. It makes me wonder, though, if he could possess someone like Commander Data.

  5. @Bob Greenwade: why not? It's been canonically established (in the STAR TREK: TNG EPISODE "Power Play") that Data can be taken over by sentient energy beings. And isn't that what our disembodied spirits are supposed to be? An alternative state of sentience occupying a different energy frequency?

  6. @Anon@12:16: Those are questions for Ross to address, possibly (preferably) on a cover featuring those two characters.

  7. There was one Brave & Bold story in which Deadman possessed a painting and made it talk. But that was a Bob Haney story, soooo...

  8. @Bob and Ross: the question I'd like most answered is if Logan and Hellboy will ever be depicted side-by-side? Even if they're just relaxing in a cigar bar! :-)

  10. I'm not familiar with Chance Falconer but now I'm a bit curious, like with Amazing Man a few covers back.

  11. So, Deadman will be played by Christopher Walken.

  12. Or comedian Jeff Davis impersonating Mr. Walken.

  13. @Anon839: Oh, no, please! Ross forbid!!

  14. If Bradley Cooper married Minnie Driver, would that make her Minnie Cooper-Driver?

  15. 'Leave it to Chance' was fantastic! It felt like a mash up of Dr. Strange, Kitty Pryde & Lockheed, and Scooby Doo (with no Scrappy Doo in sight, thankfully). It had the same creative team throughout its run, and I even got a letter printed in one of the issues :)

I got the trades for my nieces & nephews back when they were available too.

Deadman would definitely fit right in - great idea!

  16. How about Chance Falconer meets Sir Falcon? The latter's an Australian comic book superhero who's basically a cross between Marvel's Black Knight and Lee Falk's Phantom. As in; a multi-generational crime-fighting tradition that began somewhere in the Middle Ages!

So, somewhere along the way, one of the prior Sir Falcons had to encounter someone or something mystical.
