Wildcat and Captain Marvel
Mar-Vell is clearly referring here to time Wildcat defeated The Champion in the ring, as depicted in STF #2731. If anything can bring these mis-matched heroes together it's an intergalactic grudge match that must be dealt with.
Which means there ain't any honor among the elders of the universe if they don't feel a need to bring justice to one who honorably lost and is now acting like a brat wanting revenge. If you have a title or power and then you neutralize it to be in a contest, and you lose that contest, your ego better damn well accept it or your reputation and image are going to lose a whole lot more.
@Anonymous: This Vulcan is an Earth 2 astronaut who was mutated (way before the COIE) into a pyrokinetic superhuman as a result of some experimental space flight that went wrong.
@ my namesake: funny you should mention Star Trek. DC's Vulcan was named Christopher Pike! Which strongly implies that Messrs. Conway and Giffen (his creators) must've been Trekkies, themselves.
What would Lobo's title be if he lived for long enough as the last of his people to become recognised as an 'Elder of the Universe? Perhaps 'The Fragger''?

ReplyDelete"...so he sent The Vulcan to take his revenge!"
ReplyDeleteAs my father, the non-Trekkie, would say: "Funny! That doesn't look like Dr. Spock."

ReplyDelete---Another Ymous.
@2nd Anonymous: well, I'll say this much. He's way scarier-looking than Gabe Summers!
ReplyDeleteGood mix of a street-level character with a galactic-level one.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see Vulcan, Son of Fire, go up against Son of Vulcan and the Golden Age A-man.
ReplyDeleteHow about Wildcat and the Black Panther getting to meet Marga The Panther Woman?
ReplyDeleteNice one Ross. Have you ever thought about Trigun vs Trigon? Or have you done Manhunters vs Sentinels already?
ReplyDeleteIsaac
@ my namesake: I'd "stampede" to the nearest news stand to buy that 60-cent spectacular! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'd rather see Champ duke it out with Lobo. I can see Ross' title, now.
ReplyDelete"The Main Match!"

ReplyDelete@Simreeve: Any bastiche who insists he call himself something other than "Main Man" will no doubt wind up with his head bashed in! :-)
ReplyDeleteThat, in itself, would be a great second alias. The Bastiche Basher!
ReplyDelete:-)
