There have been reports of Marvel looking for a leading man type to play the antagonist in the upcoming Thunderbolts movie, an extremely powerful character that they are reportedly considering Ryan Gosling (or someone like him) to portray. Some have speculated that this is Hyperion, while others think it will be The Sentry. I think The Sentry is more likely as well. I'd love to see Hyperion join the MCU - but he would ideally have the rest of the Squadron Supreme with him so that a full on slugfest with The Avengers can go down.
Be interesting to see if DC would try to give them any problems on Mr. H. But, it would be a real horse laugh if Marvel's actor for the part would be Brandon Routh.
ReplyDeleteActually, if this story idea were developed for an original video animated feature, I'd buy it for home viewing in a heartbeat! I can just imagine Brainiac musing about the uncanny similarity to Kryptonian DNA "and, yet, there is something odd. An unusual rate of vibration in his body's molecular structure at the quantum level."
ReplyDeleteThe premise for Hyperion winding up in the DCEU? He got sucked into the interdimensional teleportal resulting from the white dwarf meteor fragment lodged in Morton Kribbee's chest! Sending him to the same general region as the rest of the meteor; Ivytown, Connecticut.
Let's let our other regular callers weigh in on this topic. Starting with...Mr. Detrick Tobor!
First nice work on another great cover. Second as re: Hyperion vs the Thunderbolts, ah... okay I can see it (especially if it's the Squadron Sinister version, which could be a good way to introduce those versions & w/ the multiverse in play bringing in the Squadron Supreme eventually.) But I'm thinking if the MCU wants to do it right w/ the Thunderbolts (at least the real Thunderbolts, Zemo's team who I'm hoping will appear in a sequel) then they should bring in Graviton, who was a C-List Magneto, till he found new life in Thunderbolts and then became a world class threat on an Avengers level.
ReplyDelete@Carycomic: You found my lost cousin, Detrick??! Wow!! Last i heard, he was working with some guy, dr Sam Beckett,then nothing.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a job for private eye Harry D'Amour. ;-)
ReplyDeleteGiven that we're in the Multiverse Saga, I'd call Hyperion the more likely antagonist. After all, he and the Squadron Supreme do reside in an alternate universe, and the group could just show up in a post-credits scene (or even in the main movie, being cast separately).
ReplyDelete@Tobor: I'd rather see Brandon Routh play Tom Thumb, when Henry Cavill as Hyperion. Maybe get Ben Affleck as Nighthawk, and Adrienne Palicki as Power Princess.
@Ross: Speaking of Quantum Leap (as Tobor just was), if you do anything to comment on the new series (which I thoroughly enjoy, by the way), a long-time fan wish (with which I concur) is to have Dr. Beckett do a Leap into Capt. Jonathan Archer.
@Bob G.:that was done. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sSXxG5qfx5I
ReplyDeleteSam leaps into the wrong shows.
@Tobor: Not quite the same thing as seeing it here.
ReplyDeleteWhat Bob said. ;-)
ReplyDeleteHow about Super Squirrel (from DC's JUSTA LOTTA ANIMALS) vs. The Superior Man-Spider (the mind of Dr. Otto Pussycat O'Nine-tails in the body of Webster Weaver)?
