The Bondsmen in: "Operation: Doomfall!"

This cover marks the fifth appearance of The Bondsmen.  Their live action movie was featured in STF #3170, They found themselves in a beastly situation in STF #3050, They had to temporarily replace one of their own in STF #880 and were first introduced in STF #564...

It took a bit of cleaning up of Latveria before I could add in our heroes on this cover.  Here's a peek at the process:

  1. Good thing you have a LOT of patience Ross. That looks like it took a while to erase alone.

  2. If I didn't know better, I would guess that Doom sent the FF and everybody else to the Phantom Zone. And when the Bondsmen came to investigate...he shrank them!

I know; I know. He wouldn't be so callous as to send innocent Latverian by-standers to another dimension with the superheroes! He does consider his people to be his children, after all. Which makes me wonder if that was really Doom; or one of his robot doubles gone rogue?

  3. Nicely done, Ross! I think I would've put James himself in the front (where you put Fury), but I wouldn't change anything else.

Though I'm betting that Doc and Fury are taking special satisfaction from whatever they just did to Doom.

PS: Some time you really should send these guys in search of Carmen Sandiego.

  4. Oooh! Oooh! Or Carmen Sandiego vs. Lupin III!

  5. Another great cover! And my congratulations to Ross on having the patience to do all of that clean-up.

Seeing the Batman appearing here reminds me of a thought that crossed my mind a week or so ago_

In this universe, anybody can meet anybody: Right?
It's a meme that Batman, with enough prep time, can come up with a plan to defeat anybody: Right?
    So...
How does he stop the Juggernaut?

  6. Afterthought: The Bondsmen story in #3050, 'Beast Mode', would actually fit as an earlier chapter of today's story. The architecture there looks similar enough, and I expect that Latveria's fauna includes Bears. Can't you just envisage Doom deciding that guard-bears are more impressive than guard-dogs?

  7. It would appear that Doom regards ameboid monsters, disguised as blue trees, as being even more impressive than guard bears.
