The Avengers first crossed The Crime Syndicate's path in STF #738, and I thought for this reunion it might be interesting to watch the two teams have to work together. Just how long will their fragile truce last and what crisis would require such a partnership? The answer is only 60 cents away!

ReplyDeletethat is just too CRUEL , lol . i'd pay that amount in a heartbeat to read this story . it's too bad it isn't a real comic book that i could go buy at my local shop .
ReplyDeleteThe answer is 60 cents and a parallel universe away....
Considering how the Squadron Supreme took over the parallel Earth of the Ross-verse, controlled by the Crime Syndicate of America (@ STF #1682), maybe the latter want the Avengers help in getting it back.
ReplyDeleteThe idea of an evil "Justice League" always intrigued me. Maybe they were the inspiration for the Seven in "The Boys".
ReplyDeleteOf course Ultraman will be the one to initiate the betrayal. But even if the pictured Avengers (Captain America, Captain Marvel, Iron Man, Yellowjacket, and the Wasp) are all that are present, they should be able to put the Syndicate down in short order, turning their own arrogance against them.
ReplyDeleteThe real question is: What threat is the Syndicate here to save the world from? I'd bet that it's something secretly cooked up by Owlman.
Ah! The first villains of my youth. Yes, JLA 29 was my first comic. My wonder wife bought me an OA page from that comic. You can see it here: https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=643046.
ReplyDelete@Bob: Or, perhaps more accurately, seduced into cooking it up by Catbird (Selina Kyle-Richmond).
ReplyDeleteChris Elliot is right, this looks like a great story.
ReplyDeleteFantastic cover, great art selection, great positioning, great color.
It looks like the long-desired sequel to JLA/Avengers that we'll never get to see.
ReplyDeletePerhaps, their world's version of Galactus?
ReplyDeleteBut suppose the League never came into being? No inspiration for all the others to have. Maybe an occasional team up but that's all.
Here's an interesting thought: Has the Crime Syndicate ever done battle with the (villainous) Squadron Supreme?
ReplyDeleteSTF #682, Bob

1682 that is
ReplyDeleteSpeculation confirmed! Thanks, Ross. :-)
ReplyDeleteBada-boom! I'd love to see a rematch, though, when Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is coming to theaters.
ReplyDeleteIs that the one that looks like a cross between "Adventure Time" animation and Lego-style stop-motion animation?
ReplyDeleteNahhhhhhhhh! You're thinking of "Aquaman: King of Atlantis".
