These are two heroes that are not likely to cross paths, either in the types of cases they work on or in the the social circles that they travel in. That's just what would make it interesting to me though. It would be interesting for them each to see how the other half lives..
Interesting choice for heroes. I’d buy this today. Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteOh, I don't know about that, Ross. The two of them could have easily crossed paths during Tony's days as a homeless alcoholic. With Ragman reminiscing on the exact details (via mandatory flashback) while he helps Shellhead off the street following whatever super-clash he got the worst of.
ReplyDeleteMake the villain he clashed with Karshon-Ulthoom "The Living Sharknado" and you could even add the Submariner (from his days as a homeless amnesiac)!
Yay! Ragman! One of my favorite heroes!
ReplyDeleteI was happy when he showed up on Arrow, but after a few appearances, he was depowered and we never saw him again.
I read that he was supposed to return, but that didn’t happen. I was hoping if not on Arrow, he might’ve shown up on Legends, but no such luck.
@Bobbo: More like blessing in disguise. For both the character and his fans!
ReplyDelete@Bobbo and Anonymous: Hear-hear!
ReplyDeleteRoss, if you are correct that these two would not likely meet, then this pairing is something that I talked about on your blog once before. There are, in company crossovers, the "obvious" pairings like those of the DC vs. Marvel series a number of years ago. While those are intriguing to see them put their similarities together, pairings of those who are totally different are even more intriguing. I like this pairing regardless of the likelihood of their meeting.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of similarities, I could see the Impossible Man, Harry Mudd, and Mr. Myxlplyx coming together in some way or other giving grief to Mr. Fantastic, Captain Kirk, and Superman.
Your punny titles are almost as enjoyable as the covers themselves.
ReplyDeleteThe Man of Iron (high-tech armor) and the Man of Rags are indeed a "Stark Contrast." Well done! I'd love to see this pair together again some time.
ReplyDelete@Cary: I like your story idea... well, at least the first paragraph. The second one doesn't quite work for me.
@Bobbo: Ragman did show up on Arrow again, his powers returned, in the finale.
Not to worry, Bob. It was just a mental spit-ball. If I had been 100% serious about a Ragman/Namor team-up, I would've suggested more legit super-villains. Like, say, a partnership between Tiger Shark and Tobias Whale?
ReplyDelete@Carycomic@ Bob Greenwade: let's compromise and have the villain of this team-up be Lady Shiva, in Rocket Red armor, working for an American-based oligarch of the Russian Maggia.
ReplyDeleteP.S.--- for those not old enough to remember, "Maggia" was the politically correct euphemism invented by Stan Lee to describe a certain Italian-American crime syndicate that wasn't supposed to exist outside latter-day gangster movies.
ReplyDeleteIt's an eye-grabber for sure! But if it that thought balloon wasn't there, this scene would imply that Ragman clobbered Iron Man somehow! He's a pretty ominous looking figure. Has there been a Super Team Family cover of characters with just dire-looking hoods?
ReplyDeleteThat's a good question! If the answer is no, then Ross might be able to do a cover like that, and he could call it something like "The Neighbor Hoods."
ReplyDeleteYea, the return of Ragman! How about Ragman VS TATTERDEMALION (Marvel's Werewolf By Night villain)
ReplyDeletetoday's cover is another winner, Ross....
ReplyDeleteRagman is one of my favorite DC characters....
another idea for a match has popped into my messed up mind that i thought should be considered....
what if #6 from The Prisoner played by Patrick McGoohan met Trichia Helfer's #6 Cylon character from the Battlestar Galactica reboot????
you could even use some of the never used Jack Kirby art for The Prisoner portion of the cover....
@Anon@10:43: It reminds me of a sticker that MAD magazine put out in the day, showing a limo driving away from a guy laying on the ground, dead from multiple gunshot wounds*, with the caption, "There is no Mafia, and we'll kill anyone who says there is!"
ReplyDelete"Here endeth the lesson."
ReplyDelete--Sean Connery (THE UNTOUCHABLES)
I've lost count of all the scenes where Iron Man has been shown flat on his back (to grab the reader). Maybe show a composite of those? Call it - The Final Rusting Place.
ReplyDeleteOkay, it's been a long day. Signing off.
Rahman would meet Tony the same way he met Ollie, Lower on the command chain. It might be very interesting.
ReplyDelete@Ken: That might make for a decent multiverse-themed Iron Beetle cover. "He's found Tony Stark -- but which one is his Tony?"
ReplyDelete@Bob & Ken: here's a hint. It ain't the one with the lightsaber! That's Jedi Master Antony Stark (white-sheep son of Iaco Stark).
ReplyDelete#Tobor@1159: I couldn't have said it better, myself!*
ReplyDelete*Or did I? ;-)
