Microforce first appeared in STF #1690... and I thought that this team would be a candidate for another cartoon adaptation. There's been rumors of an Atom film being prepared by Warner Bros. I'd love to see it if only to see how DC will handle a shrinking superhero story differently than Marvel's Ant-Man movies.
I have fond Saturday morning memories of the Filmation Atom, voiced by Pat Harrington, back in 1967. Both individually and as part of the five-man Justice League! The Super Friends version was more of a silver medalist.
ReplyDeleteAs to a live-action movie? I'll believe it when I actually see trailers for it. The way that, last night, I finally saw the first TV commercial plugging the imminent release of HAWKEYE THE MOVIE.
The Ren-Man is back!
Brilliant! I never would have even thought of this!
ReplyDeleteYou forgot Inch High, Private Eye!
ReplyDeleteI think the Arrowverse did a decent job of realizing the Atom (setting aside the miscommunication about Ted Kord that led to Ray being a lovable goofball, and VFX budget constraints that kept him from being used often). And it looks like we may be about to get a bit more, as Osric Chau (as Ryan Choi) is on next week's episode of The Flash: Armageddon.
ReplyDelete@Cary: I think you mean the Hawkeye series, which premiered last week on Disney+.
ReplyDeleteDrat! I don't get that.
ReplyDeleteWhich, in retrospect, validates my first point all the more!
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get the art for Rann?
ReplyDelete@Cary: Pity. I have the bundle with Hulu and ESPN+ (I don't watch the latter, but it's only an extra penny), and the Disney+ portion is worth it just for the Marvel and Star Wars content.

ReplyDeleteHopefully they would not get small ratings. Since Hank traveled by ants, when Ray didn't use the phone for travels how did Ray get from place to place?
ReplyDelete@Horace Feathers: He usually used a wind-blown leaf as a kind of flying carpet.
ReplyDeleteAnd in the Atom/Hawkman series in the late '60s, Ray occasionally rode on the back of his pet bird, Major Mynah.
ReplyDeleteAnd, in the Filmation JLA cartoons of 1967-68, he rode on the right shoulder of the Silver Age flash!
ReplyDeleteWhy not Filmation Microwoman and Hank Pym?
ReplyDeleteWhy not Dollman and Dollwoman?
Best

Not to mention Scott Carey.
ReplyDelete"Scott Carey?!"
SLAP!
"Ouch!"
"I told you not to mention him."
You all do realize if Ray and Hank got merged during the Amalgamated Universe they would be known as Atom Ant. Just saying.
ReplyDeleteFortunately, the Ross-verse has no nexus points connecting it to the Amalgam Universe. At least, according to Ross, himself! ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhich, of course, means that Ross is free to have Access do exactly the Amalgamation mentioned by Horsefeathers!
ReplyDeleteSo, like, if he wanted to amalgamate Daredevil and Blue Beetle, he could give us another version of...Blue Devil?
ReplyDeletePlease, no! Ross, forbid!!
I regrettably have to agree with Cary on this one. It was bad enough when Jamie Reyes and Tony Stark wee canonically amalgamated as "Iron Beetle!"
ReplyDeleteCover of the month!
ReplyDeleteNo "L'il Cheese"? (from the Zoo Crew)
