Deadman and Power Pack

I have a soft spot for Power Pack, but I don't know that they'll ever join the MCU.  It's tough to do a series of movies with young kids, as they grow so fast between installments (something I'm sure that DC/Warner Bros. is dealing with for Shazam: Fury of the Gods).  Maybe a Disney+ show would be better since they can present a longer story that doesn't take as much time to film.

  1. They could do a Power Pack feature film using the same computer graphics they used for "The Polar Express." Someone told me the three main characters were cyber-rejuvenated likenesses of Tom Hanks, Peter Scolari, and Nona Gaye!

  2. I'm with you, Ross: focusing on the Power Pack as kids would work best with a Disney+ series with special appearances in some of the movies (like maybe the second Young Avengers film) along the way. The real challenge would be in how to end it; it's hard to figure out how these superpowered kids, who are still active in the comics, would work out in the future. The easiest solution might be to let them just "retire" from superheroing and live relatively normal lives, then let their kids become alt-versions of other Marvel heroes (like some of the more obscure X-Men).

Meanwhile, speaking of guest appearances, supposedly Spider-Man is to appear in one of the upcoming Marvel Phase Four films, but given the ending for No Way Home I'm having a hard time figuring out which one it'll be. The original theory was Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but after seeing NWH I'm thinking Thor: Love & Thunder, The Marvels, or Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania seem more likely (my money would be on the last one).

  3. @Bob Greenwade: I'm guessing he'll be making a cameo in MORBIUS. The trailers for which are already being shown in theaters throughout my neck of the proverbial woods!

@Ross: for "Purgatory" should we read that as Belasco's corner of Limbo?

  4. @Anon@11:02: Maybe he will, and maybe he won't; probably not, given the placement of the respective universes. Morbius isn't a part of the Disney MCU; he's part of the same universe that Venom is in, from Sony, so that wouldn't count in the sharing deal. It'd almost have to be one of the four movies I mentioned above (it could be something later, like Black Panther: Wakanda Forever).

  5. " 'Almost' only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades."

    *Or was it Groucho Marx?

  6. Actually, it was California Angels designated hitter Frank Robinson (7/31/1973).

  7. Also, the adverb being discussed was "close." Regardless, the remaining Phase Four movies are, in (current) order:

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
    Thor: Love and Thunder
    Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
    The Marvels
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
    And-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
    Fantastic Four

Normally my money would be on Fantastic Four, but while I'm certainly not ruling it out that's quite a ways in the future (late '23).

  8. After Star Girl, Marvel may want to show how to do it right. Then again, if Will Robinson could pull it off, Why not? Let the 12 year olds get placed in danger, they'll have insurance. Right??

  9. I'll guess that BPWF has a cameo by Spidey because it'll introduce Kraven the Hunter. Perhaps as a Russian expat hiding out in Serpent Valley!

  10. @Carycomic: why not? It's Wakanda's version of the Savage Land. So, the FF could make their MCU debut there, as well. Perhaps even while helping to battle the ship-wrecked alien giant, Tsiln!

  11. @Bob, I was responding to the phrase "...almost have to be."

The word "close" was nowhere near by.

@Anonymous856: sounds like an alternate plan.

  12. @Cary: I meant, the quote. "'Close' [not 'almost'] only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades."

  13. @Cary & Bob: I say "tomato/potato."

  14. I have a soft spot for Power Pack, too. I remember getting the first issue and was very surprised and amused by it. Later I got the whole series and set it aside for when I would have kids later. Then when I figured my girls were old enough, I presented them with the entire series. They ate them up. I stood in the background and was like 'No, don't bend the cover!', 'You have to be more careful of the pages. You are tearing them.' I finally had to walk away before I totally ruined the experience for them. My wife was upset because the girls wouldn't read her favorite novels as they got older because they wanted to read the graphic novel versions instead. 'That is not how Anne of Green Gables is supposed to be read!' Ha! Maybe Ross could do a crossover between Power Pack and Anne of Green Gables! That would be amusing, but I can't see anyone doing that. I do have a question though. Where did the Power Pack cover for this issue come from? Thanks.
