Both of these guys deserve another shot at the big screen. X-Men: Apocalypse did not really do the villain justice. I don't fault Oscar Isaac's performance, but the visuals weren't quite there to bring the oversized X-Villain to life. I did enjoy Darkseid's brief moments in Zack Snyder's Justice League, but he deserves more of a spotlight and besides, Warner Bros has decided the this movie doesn't "count". It'll probably be a bunch of years, but I bet we'll see both of them on the silver screen again.
What a light show. But Ross, for the main event:
ReplyDeleteDarkseid vs Phoenix.
@Det. Tobor: I thought Chris Claremont had already dramatized that.
ReplyDelete@ Ross: YES! Just the inter-villain smack-down I've been waiting to see on this page!! Thank you-thank you-thank you!!!
:-D
Hey Ross, i was thinking that you could now do a throw back to cover #1561 but as a live action photo cover with the father and son Lou Ferrignos....
ReplyDeletea first i believe for you delightful blog....
just a thought/suggestion....
i don't know why this cover made me think of that????
Nice -- "Apocalypse on Apokolips!" When I suggested this team-up (and I wasn't the first; I don't remember who was, though I think it might have been Cary), that was my main motivation.
ReplyDeleteThere have been hints that Darkseid the next "Mega-Bad" for Arrowverse crossovers (like the Anti-Monitor). He wasn't handled especially well on Smallville (to put it mildly), so hopefully he'll be a bit better-budgeted when his turn comes for this universe.
As for "Ol' Puckered-Lips," as I like to call him, I think we can figure on his appearance taking somewhat longer, since the X-Men will need to be somewhat well-established.
I second jack-el's suggestion of a live-action Hulk/Hourman II team-up.
I am surprised that you have not teamed Incredible Hulk with Etrigan The Demon.
ReplyDeleteBob i agree with you team of Tins with the inclusion of the Tin Woodman of Oz....
ReplyDeletethis was for Bob's comment on yesterdays comments about a group with Tin from DCs Metal Men and Tintin and dog hero Rin Tin Tin...
Deleteand i added the Tin Woodman and thought they could be called The Tintinnabulations.....
@det_Tobor: Darkseid and Phoenix were the villains in the 1982 Titans/X-Men crossover. But then, that wasn't a "versus" situation. (BTW, your name makes me think that it'd be nice to see 8-Man on an STF cover someday.)
ReplyDelete@Jack-El: Nah! Then, they'd have all their foes calling them "The Tin Pan Allies."

Bob, I have been a major fan of that character since the first episode when it played in the early 1960's. There was a more mature tone to it than the other animated shows from Japan.
"8-Maaaaaaaaaan! Nana-nana-nana-nana-nana-nana-nana-nana! 8-Man!"
ReplyDeleteIf you don't know the character, don't drive yourself batty over it. He was a robot with a human heart. Somewhat like Six Million Dollar Man in some ways.
ReplyDelete@Det. Tobor: and, once again, you prove yourself brilliant!
ReplyDeleteThe $6,000,000 Man teams up with 8-man and the Tin Woodman to journey to..."THE DARK HEART OF OZ!"
Special guest-villain Carolyn Jones as the Queen of Hearts?
ReplyDeleteAnd very special guest appearance by Jack of Hearts. One chapter may be subtitled "Heart Burn".
ReplyDelete@Tobor: Sounds do-able. :-)
