I'm really looking forward to seeing what the MCU does with Blade. It seems like a long time since the announcement of Mahershala Ali in the role, and we've heard nothing about the project since. Blade deserves to be handled well - the Wesley Snipes movies really got the ball rolling as far a s putting Marvel heroes on the big screen and proved that even B or C list characters could look cool and have theatrical success if handled well, even in a Rated R film.
I wish DC would put out a Dr. Fate movie or series. A series might be better. The different hosts of Fate could be highlighted more
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure the upcoming Blade movie will be PG-13; only Deadpool gets to be R! But I, too, am hoping to see Blade pop up in Phase 5, even if only as a supporting character leading in to his actual feature (a al Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War.
ReplyDelete@jlbgriggsw: I agree; Smallville demonstrated (in its double-length episode "Absolute Justice") that Doctor Fate can be done quite well in live action. I don't think they'd highlight the different hosts, though, except to keep bringing the helmet back to Kent Nelson and/or to pass the mantle in the finale.
ReplyDelete@JLBriggs: just so long as they don't try another Blade series. Sticky Fingaz wasn't bad in the title role. But, he'll never beat Wesley Snipes!
ReplyDeleteI wonder who vampirized her? Von Strahd of Barovia from "Ravenloft?" Or Dracula from "Castlevania?"

ReplyDeleteIt's a good thing Blade is Black or he'd be recast as a "WAAAmyn" who's the "bestest evarrrrr". "...You Know It's Sad But Truuuuuue!..." - MetallicA.
ReplyDeleteThe way Denzel was recast as Queen Latifah for the upcoming reboot of the old "Equalizer" series?
ReplyDeleteDenzel?? go to the original.

Yep! Plus, Wm. Zabka (Daniel LaRusso's arch-enemy in the original "Karate Kid" movie) as temporarily estranged son Scott McCall.* Now, THAT was an action-adventure series!
ReplyDelete*No relation to the lacrosse-happy Teen Wolf from MTV's bastardization of the Michael J. Fox film. Some changes really are for the worse, are't they?
